If you're really desparate...Just adjust the date on your computer to any date before 10/31/04. Hehehehe... |

Oops, my bad, there was still code in there from an early version.
A new one is on:
http://www.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au/~ziph/cartographer/
There's no date cutoff on that one, plus it has:
* Zoom out.
* Batch thumbnailing. |

Uh-huh... a likely story. We know all about your evil plans for world dominion, Ian. You best shape up.
One question before I break your knees: What is "batch thumbnailing"? _________________ Get real... ethereal! |

Ian,
I gotta make a few comments about your cartographer...I cannot tell you how much I appreciate (and I'm sure the other winbolo map makers feel the same way) your efforts in this program. I have no programming knowledge at all other than an intro to c++ class about 12 years ago. The only thing I learned was how little I know. This program is becoming everything that I wish bolo-reich was. I have to believe this will only help generate more interest in winbolo.
That said...Here's some things I'd like to see...Who knows you're probably a step ahead of me and already working on these:
1. X/Y Coordinates on like the bottom left (or where ever) of the window.
2. A way to delete bases...Maybe there's a way to do this that I am missing?
3. Mines or some sort of a border so I know where the map borders are.
4. A pill, base and start counter that shows how many of these you have currently on the map.
That's all I can think of...I don't recall anyone posting these before but sorry if they have. THANK YOU AGAIN IAN!!!!!!

Dave!! I told you there was a way to do that!! You see the bottom right-most icon in the Cartographer toolbar?
A couple of other things I would like to see:
1. Pill and base properties. (like in bolo reich)
2. Pill firing radius
3. Copy/paste??
4. Make the fill button NOT fill all the way to the edges of the map.
Other than that, I LOVE IT!! _________________ Alexm <><

yea, a base/pill/start counter and/or a limit to them. Right now you can put as many as you want in, but i dont think it will let you save. yea, the pill firing radius would be great. There was something else, but I forgot... Yea, Cartographer's awesome. Not to knock the creater of Boloreich, tho.

BTW, if any one has this problem I posted about, I created a filter to help:
Code: | for i = 1, 10 do
line( i - 1, 0, i - 1, 255)
line( 0, i - 1, 255, i - 1)
line( 256 - i, 0, 256 - i, 255)
line( 255, 256 - i, 0, 256 - i)
end |
ps. Just remember to select deep water first. _________________ Alexm <><

print"\n\n$c ";for($i=0;$i<@a; $i++) { $a[$i] =~
y/b-y/a-z/;if($a[$i]eq$a[-1]){print"and $a[$i]."
;}else{ print"$a[$i], ";}}print"\n\t\t--$b\n\n"; |

Made a change:
Code: | type = 16
for i = 1, 10 do
line( i - 1, 0, i - 1, 255 type)
line( 0, i - 1, 255, i - 1 type)
line( 256 - i, 0, 256 - i, 255 type)
line( 255, 256 - i, 0, 256 - i type)
end |
Now you don't have to select deep water first. _________________ Alexm <><

print"\n\n$c ";for($i=0;$i<@a; $i++) { $a[$i] =~
y/b-y/a-z/;if($a[$i]eq$a[-1]){print"and $a[$i]."

Hmmm...I couldn't get this filter to work. Cart returned an error of "attempt to call a string value." I did get the 1st filter you posted to work...Very cool alexm. I think the only difference (unless I'm missing something here) is the 1st line that reads type=16. What does that thingy designate anyways?

Something like this should work:
Code: | tile_type = OCEAN
for i = 1, 10 do
line(i - 1, 0, i - 1, 255, tile_type)
line(0, i - 1, 255, i - 1, tile_type)
line(256 - i, 0, 256 - i, 255, tile_type)
line(255, 256 - i, 0, 256 - i, tile_type)
end |
I think the only thing missing from the previous script was comma's before "type" in the four "line" calls (The error probably snuck in while the code was being posted to this forum, I hope it hasn't happened for the above code). I've changed "type" to "tile_type" because "type" is often a reserved word (not sure for Lua) and the 16 to "OCEAN" to make the intent clear. |

Oops. Forgot that. Dave, the type = 16 makes it always use deep water, wether it's selected in your pallette or not. One last thing, the type variable DID work before, I just forgot the commas this time. _________________ Alexm <><

No big deal alexm. Just a thought, maybe it is time to start a new thread like the "Post Here after Map Making" except make it "Post new filters here" or something like that. I don't have good enough feel as to whether or not there would be enough interest in something like that. What does everone else think?
