I'm still out there, still looking to get back into playing Winbolo, and still running Ubuntu. What progress, if any, has been made at getting a Linux client working?

There's been no progress on anything since 1.17 was released in September 2009. I'm sure you can get Winbolo to run on Ubuntu with Wine though.

I've tried that before Nemo, but it was REALLY fucking laggy. My hardware isn't the newest though, so perhaps I could boot into terminal and run *just* that and an IRC client.

I spent about a half hour last night trying to get Linbolo to compile. I had decent success, but I couldn't get a working version to link properly. C isn't my language, so there was only so much I could do. But here's what I had so far:

Code:
sudo apt-get install libxpm-dev libgtk2.0-dev libsdl-dev libsdl-mixer1.2-dev libsdl-ttf2.0-dev

In the make file, replace every instance (there's only two) of:
Code:
gtk-config

with:
Code:
pkg-config gtk+-2.0

The --cflags and --libs switches can be left alone, they work the same.

Then replace line 65 of the Makefile:
Code:
-lSDL_ttf -lSDL_mixer `glib-config --libs gthread` \

with
Code:
-lSDL_ttf -lSDL_mixer `pkg-config glib-2.0 --libs` `pkg-config gthread-2.0 --libs` \

I also had to add a fix to a bunch of files to handle an undefined symbol. I was a dirty hack solution, but it worked. Pretty much every file that creates a dialog needed it.
Code:
*/ Linux hack */
#ifndef GTK_WINDOW_DIALOG
#define GTK_WINDOW_DIALOG GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL
#endif

That's as far as I got before I decided it was 4AM and I should be in bed.
