My son (12) and I got talking about old games. I told him of Bolo and how it kept us PhD students from our research,and/ or kept us in the labs for late-night duels. Must have been in 1993 or something. We checked it out on the net. For his generation, submerged in MineCraft, the simplicity of the design was even a plus! He loved the idea.
At home we have one good Windows computer and two reasonably fresh, "recycled" computers with Ubuntu (and a crappy netbook, but that doesnt count . In order to play against each other we would need to run bolo on the linux's.
The info I have found are a bunch of dead links and posts from like <2003. One exception being from this summer where someone was complaining about errors in compilation from the source code. I'm afraid handling source-code is slightly beyond me, especially if there is trouble to be expected.
Are there any fresh links to version 1.13 of Linbolo? If yes, are there any servers that will host this today? I understand this was the last working version...
Any plans to get a newer Linbolo available?
