Seeing that people want a better map editor, I would like to know what features people would want to have in it. In my spare time, what little I have, I may work on a new map editor. I'd like to get an idea of what people would find most useful in it.
a few things are required as features. gridwork over the map, tools that allow "Drawing" squares of varius sizes, circles, ellisodes, the ability to flip selected areas vertically, horizontally. all the varius goodies you would see in a drawing program, the ability to shrink stuff, enlarge stuff that sort of thing. and of course, everything thats already in boloreich

If you've ever seen BMapEdit for the Mac, you've seen pretty much the best bolo map editor I can think of. Clone that, and you'll be a hero.
Umm yer I want to be able to make hills, valleys, mountains, and bunkers so it's more like Afghanistan. So far the only thing it has in common with Afghanistan is the rubble and n00bs that are about as useless as the Afghan populus.
oh yes ... and a tool that will randomize a second you select ... like select a big square with the "randomize" tool and it will take all the terrain in that selection and randomize it throughout the selection area. oh and the ability to "import" gifs or jpgs and have them drawn out as bolo maps ....

and maybe some sort of tile maker which you could create tiles and paste them onto the map
If you can get your hands on an emulator (Basilisk II) or a real mac, try both bmapedit and bolostar. Those were the two best map editors imho, if you can implement the basic features of those you're well on the way.

Thanks for the suggestions. As I get further along, I'll let everyone know what's going on with the editor.
