Why Are there so many empty games on the server?

This is Madd Maxx speaking... I was wondering why there are so many people who start passworded games on the server and then don't play them. Canuck or Elvis or whoever should make some new rule on the server like: if a passworded game has nobody in it for ten minites, then it should be deleted off the server. This would keep only important games on the "active games" page. Oh yeah, and do these games slow down the games that actually matter(no passwurd ones with ppl playing)??????

Maybe a tracker and winbolo.net page that only shows games with activity or that have more then one player or free bases or pillboxes would be suitable? Perhaps the games could be sorted so the most "interesting" ones appear at the top?

The (Mac) Bolo tracker does exactly this: http://bolotrack.cass.usu.edu:50001/

As for why people run passworded games and leave them open, you would have to ask the server administrators of the games.

Does it slow down the tracker or winbolo.net? No. If the game server is run on the same host, then the game will consume some system resources but wont have an impact on any other games running.

The tracker is looked after by Canuck. I'm sure he will add it to his todo list aswell.

Sure, I can do an "interesting games" port. Most likely 50001.

Taken from the mac bolo tracker:
* Port 50001 - Only INTERESTING games, where interesting means
non-PW, < 6 players, and unclaimed bases (or open game).

Does that sound ok?

Actually, I just realized 50001 is used already for the http list. It would probably make sense to move http to 50002 or 50005 (same as the macbolo tracker). Any preferences which?
