What's a DJ's job in a band?

I heard some people within bands referred to as "DJ"s... so what exactly does that person do in that band? I also saw someone else's job described as "samples". Just wondering...

'DJ' or designated junkie is a critical member of the band. He takes narcotics while the others play so that the bandmembers don't have to - kinda like a 'whipping boy' of sorts. Of course the sampler samples various drugs to make sure they are safe for the DJ.

No no Acro. The DJ puts the music on and makes the rest of the band feel uncomfortable because they just stand there, or they pretend to play after they put it on. Also, DJ stands for Drug Jockey. He provides the drugs for the band. The sampler tries all the drugs out there, buys them with the Dj's money, and gives the DJ the drugs. The sampler usually remains anonymous.

just wondering if u guys really know what a dj's job in a band vs a club is. samples are like tracks taken from records without lyrics or peaces of lyrics to make an overlaying beat. these samples used by a dj in the proper tempo sounds neato. mostly used in hip hop and r&b but now bands like linkin park and 311, limp bizkit..or hard roll, come to mind when useing a dj.

so if u dont know...well now u know

and knowing is half the battle.

gggggiiiiiii jjjjjjooooooooeeeeeeee.

I was looking at a page on Slipknot. One guy is a DJ and the other is a sample guy. Didn't know what the terms meant... so I thought I'd ask y'all. Thanks, Fubar.
