ATA/HD and CD-ROM Configuration?

Jun 05, 2004 00:28 ATA/HD and CD-ROM Configuration?
Hey...anyone up to the challenge of my latest computer question?

MY 'serial ATA' HD is on SATA port 1. No HDs are run from the second ATA slot or the IDE slots. Should the CD-ROM go on the primary IDE slot or the secondary slot? What should the jumper setting on the CD-ROM be in this configuration? Master, Slave, or Cable-Select?

There's gotta be someone who knows this. :D

put it on the primary ide, it can be set to either master or cable-select doesn't really matter. if you put a second ide device on that cable you will need to set it as slave.....or cable-select and let the comp choose.

I havn't had much luck with cdrom drives in cable select mode, you can put it on either primary or secondary ide .. in either master or slave mode ... it doesn't make any difference, however, to make it look like you know what your doing, master on primary ide (assuming you have no other hd's other than the serial ata drive)
