Uhh.....are you a fucking retard, or just REEEELY drunk? Windows explorer does not give you popups, website owners do. FUCk, ur stupid.

Have you ran a search for "explorer"? Not sure if this helps or not, but it's worth trying, I guess. If you find anything Windows Explorer-related, then delete it.

Pretty sure you already nailed that one, but thought it couldn't hurt.

You should get Mozilla Firefox, it's twice as fast as explorer and has a pop-up blocker made in it. It's also got a nice feature where it keeps all the tabs in one window.

'Windows Explorer' is your desktop. 'Windows Internet Explorer' is your browser. I have never gotten an 'out of the blue' popup on Internet Explorer. I only get popups if I go to a popular site, like a music or movie site. The best way to avoid popups is to AVOID PUTTING JUNK ON YOUR COMPUTER. Don't install the stupid 'bonzi buddy' , 'weatherbug', 'precision time' etc. Stuff like that is free, but it has all sorts of annoyances.

The computer systems I've seen with the worst popups are always the systems overloaded with junk.

Do you get the gray colored popup windows with black plain-looking text and 'message service' at the top? If you do, stop your messenger service. You can do it in 'administrative tools. Anyone who has this problem, I can help you make this type of popup go away.

I love IE. I have no popups and no popup blocker programs. The problem is NOT IE.

Ok, first note, only listen to acro... if you listen to the "search for explorer and delete all you find" Advice ... then you are daft and nolonger capible of being helped ... If you wish to remove IE from your system, then you must use a tool that will remove it, there is one called Ieradicator that will remove internet explorer from you system, however Chances are, IE is not whats actually causing your problem, first thing you should do is install a program called SpyBot - Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/ do NOT install the teatimer portion of this program .... Second thing you should do is install and run BHODemon http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm ... these 2 programs should clear up any nasties that are popping up stuff at you.

Ya do that, but if you are tired of pesky blockup adverts, google toolbar is actually a pretty good addon for stopping them. But I have to agree with phart, Mozilla Firefox is way better then anything ie can throw at you.

u 2 kick ass

Sound like you got a couple adware and/or spybots, google spybot s&d and download it, it's a great tool for picking out pesky little buggers. (sry for posting the same thing if anyone posted the same in general)

Google toolbar is very nice to block popups with your Internet Explorer, it's at: http://toolbar.google.com/

But if you're getting pop-ups without using it, looks like you have spyware on your comp. Try running Spybot or AdAware

I hear good things about Firefox, and Opera is another good option for a fast browser that allows you to block pop-ups etc.

Yes I love firefox, simply because it doesn't look like old win98 browser more of an updated broswer with custom skins.

'Windows Explorer' is your desktop.

'Windows Explorer' is the default Windows shell :)

Yes, and the desktop is the visual representation of that. It was the simplest 'layman's term' I could come up with to make the distinction clear.
