Ok. Min and I had this discussion on the other thread (about why ppl don't use WBN) about having a thread to report bugs. Well, instead of waiting until a proper thingy is installed I thought I'd start this thread and hope that ppl post on it the bugs they notice.
Because fact is, a bug that you know about may be something that Elvis does not - as he didn't know about the inability to change name in a game bug since 1.13. So, here we can help Elvis be aware of bugs.
Here is my first. Well it's not exactly a bug, but still something that could be fixed to improve WinBolo. I actually never noticed this, but apparently other people have and it irritates them:

I made a note to sheeps not too long ago that informed him that certain large maps aren't able to load. It doesn't seem to have any trouble with maps that are large yet somewhat simple, but some maps I make have complex designs that make the map large. If the map is large enough, it will simply not load.

Well, the only bugs that irritate me are the well-established 'lifers' like lgm bug and 'pill pick-up' bug. I'm quite sure Elvis knows about them unless he hasn't read the forums since 1.08.
By the way Elvis, feel free to ask for clarifications if our description of the bug isn't detailed enought.
Bug Report: Skin Loading
I love the skins ability, there is a series of bug (or is it just 1?) related to loading the skings.
1) If you play a game with a skin, then you quit the game (but stay in Winbolo), and go back to switch skins, it will give you the error message "Creating DD Clipper Failed" with an "Ok" Button. I press the "Ok" button and another error message comes up right away: "Error Setting Draw" This can be reproduced by simply starting a pratice game and then trying to change skin. This bug occurs either when single or double size is selected.
So in pratice when we want to change skin, we have to quit Winbolo completely, then load it up to change skin. That also leads to another bug:
2) When you start winbolo, are using double size, and select a new skin, most time it will not load the complete skin. It will load the screen.bmp file, BUT the skin32.bmp file will not load, instead it will use the previous skin's skin32.bmp. So you have a skin with the new skin's screen.bmp, and the previous skin's skin32.bmp. In order to get both screen.bmp AND skin32.bmp loaded, you have to quit again and load winbolo again and this time you can jump straight in a game (without going to the skin selection) and both parts will have been correctly loaded. This bug does NOT occure when single-size is selected, only when double-dize is used. As I use double-size, I tested it it for the single size for the purpose of this bug report.
So for now, the procedure for changing a skin fully when using double-size is 1) Quit Winbolo completely 2) Load Winbolo 3) Go to change skin selector and change the skin 4) Quit Winbolo 5) Load Winbolo 6) Join Game.
ps. I absolutely adore the skin ability. The graphics are that are being developed is so superb compared to the graphic we've been stuck since 1988.
Nova I took your map Refsnart loaded it in my map editor and resaved it and it open's up just fine. I think there is a chance this is something to do with BoloReich not winbolo.
hmmm that seems very odd, no I haven't tried it but I will tommorrow when i sober up a bit.
There's also a small bug in the map collections. Bases are red colored and pills are yellow colored.
hehe, today, whilst playing in a big game with sev, burt, etc... We had an "invincipill". It was in the last stage of death, and we shot the hell outta it, even doubled it, but it jus shot at us, and refused to die. Too bad it wasn't on my team :D.
Ok, I tested the skin loading thing some more Elvis per our discussion. I find it an overwhelming amount of time, the bug is like I mentioned. Just not 100%, I don't know what causes the difference.
Maybe others do? Also, I'm curiuous if this bug happens a lot to others? Or just to me and a few others.
Also, as a point to everyone else, the load bugging bug (where it loads the screen but not the skin graphics the first time around) happens more when the "x" is clicked, but not really when the "file->exit" is clicked.
I have the same bug from time to time with the skins.
There's one small bug in the map collections as well: Bases are red, and pillboxes are yellow. While this isn't a big problem, this isn't the way it is in WinBolo.
I also have a feature request. I'm not sure if Elvis has the ability to change this or not, since it's in the tracker... but it's a minor annoyance to have every single error message to have a SECOND error message pop up saying "an error occured trying to join the game." It's like, oh... really... no shit? I'd be perfectly satisfied with just one error window.
If Elvis can't change this, no biggy, but it's a minor annoyance like I said.
Ok, I have a bunch of ants and spiders, but the spiders aren 't bug so if you could just get rid of the ants in my room I'd really like it. Thanks.
