I was just wondering what you guys used for protecting you computers. Stuff like pop-up blockers, firewalls, and anti-virus programs. I use Norton Antivirus 2003, I'm going to get NortonSystemworks2004 when I have the bills. I also use the google bar and Pop-Up Stopper Free Edition for my pop-ups. COmbined, I have no pop-ups at all, although the 2nd one ther stop windows from opening when you click on something unless you are pressing Ctrl. I also use a free trial Firewall from ZoneAlarms.com, they also have a free one with less punch.
Just need to know what works out there.
software firewalls are hocky, buy yourself a proper hardware firewall (also known as a router) ..... and as far as popups are concerned ...... just use firefox, its has built in popup blocking support, or a adblocking proxy or something

I got firefox, spybot s&d, and hijack this just in case. Screw anti virus and firewalls, if you don't know what your downloading or opening don't do it! Anyways I could care less if my system goes down just have to re format it and install windows no biggy.
I use McAfee Viruscan 7.0 its kinda stupid because it seems to refuse to update itself i am planning to get Norton soon.
I use CoolWeb Shredder to get rid of trojans and spyware.
I use firefox (I actually heard about it whislt reading this forum, and I tried it, and I am NEVER using IE again) and I run Spybot-Search and Destroy, and AdAware every once in a whyle to remove shit. I also have Norton 2004, but it annoys the hell outta me, so I'm thinking of not having it come on @ startup.
I use s&D too, And Norton doesn't tell me about trojans and bugs, it tells me it has removed them. I just formatted and got about 20 viruses in an hour.
No patches, no protection except Norton, my system is clean.
I love Norton.
Don't forget one of the most important steps: keep your MS system patched! Download and install the critical updates!
^ Hehe, I never add critical updates to my system, firefox is alot safer then ie cause it doesn't have as many loop holes as ie, I stay pretty safe even though I have three computers running win98 with out any patches.
that's one of the contributing factors to the 20+ viruses I got. Once I dowloaded and installed them I haven't gotten a notice since, even when I turn my programs off.
