should we have a thread limited?

Jul 05, 2004 16:38 should we have a thread limited?
ya, i don't wanna take away some of freedom and rights. but don't you think we should put a limited on how many post we make in a week? just to cut down on the threads. because "SOME" people think that if they make lots lots of threads people would reply it them. i guess this is really a question to ven? why do you make soo many threads? don' you know there is a simple way of asking a question other than going on the fourm? there a chatroom for winbolo you know. you can away ask a question there and i am sure some one will answer it. but since you got here you have made about 156 threads. *i think you start to use the winbolo.forum like 3 or 4 weeks ago* since i started here *pretty much when winbolo.net opens* i have 110... anyway, enought said.

no, we should not implant this "feature".

I agree with indy... it's rather frustrating to see the "Recent Topics" bar flooded with inane shit. I don't mind so much if people are helping each other out, etc., but these threads from Jay and Vengeance are just pure shit. I don't mind people having fun, but their having fun is getting in the way of my being able to access recent topics easily, since I'm on dial-up and everything takes a bit to load.

Not only is it frustrating for me, but it's a sheer waste of webspace that could be better suited to other, more relevant things.

Even if I DID have BroadBand, I'd wouldn't have to want to go through all the forums to see what was latest.

Maybe we should have a new policy that states that thread starters should have SOME sort of use, instead of just fucking about. It's nice to have laid-back, off-the-topic chats from time to time (Like "what's your favorite..." type of threads"), but I really hate seeing the boards cluttered with shit.

I'm rather tired and hungry right now, forgive me if I'm ranting...

First of all Indiana, I haven't made 156 threads in four weeks. I started my rampage in February. Nova, I have dial-up too and I don't really care about the load times. If i can make on person feel happy, weird, sad, pity me, or any emotion whatsoever my thread isn't a waste. I think that I should be able to delete my own threads, too. I don't really like the amount of Author Vengeance there are out there and I really like to see myself type.

If u guys really want me to stop, bring school back in session or get my job to start early. Or just protest everything Nova and Indiana does, that will shut me down.

Also chat rooms don't have a 24/7 broadcast for any "passerbyer" to see. I sleep every other day so I don't have the time or power to stay online 24/7 wo see what people in other time zones think, who is everyone except Nova but who cares what he thinks. If we did have a post limit I would just get another profile, I am considering...wait. Don't want someone to steal it to spite me. But no one would do that so here it is. "I am a complete idiot, check the record"

All I'm doing is responding to his threads, and trying to make him embarassed so he'll stop... I NEVER try to make a pointless thread, I've probly only made about 10 threads in abt 1 year of belonging to .net (I was around the 22nd person to join) If you are talking abt my latest thread, the ethics and ettitquette one, I agree that the idea was stupid, but when I posted it I was all for helping the Winbolo community with noobs. This was my last thread in abt five months, so how can you say that these 'threads' are getting annoying?

Edit: As for the limit, I think its ok but as long as its quite high, so it only affects people like vengeance.

I wasn't talking about that one, actually. It actually had a point to it. Sometimes you gotta run ideas by people: either you have no idea how stupid it is or you think it's stupid and you just want to run it by people on the off chance they don't think it's stupid as well. I do believe I've done both.

Anyhoo... sorry, like I said... I was rather tired at the time of the post. I hadn't eaten anything in a while and I had just spent hours in the front yard tearing out periwinkle vines... not the best conditions for my already hampered thought process. :-) So forgive my shit-fling toward you about the threads, however I don't really think that making more and more threads is going to make Vengeance stop... if anything, just add to the thread-making chaos.

The truth is Jay was humoring me and I didn't get the embarese part. Those posts were totally useless though and deserve to be deleted. As for what to do with me next, vote in the feature request sub-forum under Vengeance Forums. Thanks.
