Which is the better gaming maching? X-Box or PS/2?
Primarly looking at as a second DVD player but looking at additional functionality over just being a DVD player.
Ok wel here we go, I'll tell you whats the power points between both, xbox overall I say is much better and easly upgradable(new hdd, mod chips, linux box), ok the xbox has a a intel 733mhz 32-bit cpu that is sorta a cross bred between a pentium III and celeron, has a 250mhz gpu powered by crossbred between nvidia and m$, and 64mb ram, and the best part a 8 or 10gb hdd. (acual size of the hdd's are 16 and 20gb, but the only use half of the platter.
Now the ps2, 128-bit 300mhz cpu, gpu operates at 150mhz, and 32mb of ram, no hdd. Don't let the 128-bit cpu fool you, it is alot more powerful yes, but I highly doubt the current games unlock 128-bit processor speeds since most of todays advanced programs run at 32-bit platform (winxp and other os), currently the only os that runs at a higher platform is the 64-bit linux of course created for the amd64, so 128-bit doesn't mean a whole lot. Also the ps2 has no hdd, so this means, no ripping songs and slower load times, if you notice xbox loads games alot fast then ps2, and that is because of the hdd, also of course you can rip songs onto the xbox and listen to your songs and such when your cruising vice city and whatever, plus with modchips you can save games to the hdd, update the hdd to a much larger hdd, surf the internet, and the best part is, you will never have to buy a game for xbox since you can rent them, save them to your hdd and play it all you want with out buying it, but be quiet, its illegal ;) Xbox is the much better choice thne the ps2. Yes, I do have an xbox but I'm not a fanboy, simply xbox is the better choice do to the better hardware, also the nvidia gpu is much more advanced then ps2 so this means clearer and crisper images.

1st and Foremost. the XBOX is very new compared to the PS2...
Yes... you can rip and play games from the XBOX, but this does require you to upgrade your HDD because i think the XBOX hdd is only like 10 GIGs ... plus you have to hack your XBOX to get all the Multimedia stuff to work...
The PS2 does run Linux... infact Sony released a Harddrive, and a mouse/keyboard/Linux DVD to use your PS2 box as a linux box... but it's a little too expensive for the Speed of the Box.. PS2 can also played "Rented" and Ripped games... for PS1, and PS2...
About the Music... uhm... honestly .. who cares if you can play music off your XBOX.. wouldn't you rather be playing music on a stereo or your computer?
Now... PS2 does have a lot of games that XBOX will never have.. and vice versa.. so in all you have to decide whut kind of games you want to play... eg. Final Fantasy Series.. will always be on a PS.. (: possibly Gamecube..
Then you have the whole.. the control on the PS2 is way better than the control for the XBOX issue..
So Elvis, if you don't care about hacking your XBOX to put movies/music/ripped games.. (basically making another computer.. ) then you may want to get a PS2... for example.. if you like DDR like i do.. then you'll want a ps2.. cause the only XBOX DDR game is Ultramix.. and it kinda sucked... and Extreme will be comming out September.. if they haven't set the date back on it again..
Also resident evil games.. and Squaresoft(squarenix) games are mostly on the PS..

Ok, from what i have heard, PS2 is a better system for DVD playing kinda stuff...If you want a centerpiece that doesn't look too bulky then you should go with the PS2. Gaming wise the PS2 comes out with a lot more games and in a variety of fields, while the XBOX has a limited amount compared to the PS2 and also it does have better graphics and I have to admit, the HDD is nice...Although, Fuck up the XBOX, well... /me waves goodbye to all saves and system info...
Also the PS2 can completely replace a computer i think...so if ya want to play Bolo with your PS2 online, then go to Sony.com and check out the Linux upgrade thingy ma bob.
I have a PS2 personally and it works fine, its one of the first year ones that has both a sound and video chip and and lacks some of the newer features, but hey...It can take a lot of abuse...Like over 100 hours contstantly of gaming without even getting glitchy or lagging...

Well, X-box is better, but it costs MORE. The cost of getting the hookups for a DVD player costs about as much as the consol itself :P. PS2's good........
well..... xbox is deifnitely better and more expensive...... ps2 on the other hand has more funfunfun games..... so it really depends on what your criteria is :roll:
get your self a nice graphics card, a fast pc and don't even waste your time with those stupid console pieces of shit. Unless your cutting the cord on an xbox controller and patching in a usb cable...

Well consoles are not "ghey", they are a cheap solution to playing your favorite game, and they play them good, now you try building a computer for $150 and see what games you can play with that :roll: It won't be able to handle or push out the graphics like xbox does...
PC games are fine for me. I don't feel like blowing lots of money on gaming systems and games when I can play bolo and doom for cheap. :D

Sure it will play them but not as well as xbox will, thats what I'm getting out, it won't be all that smooth because theres other applications running in the backround, consoles don't have shitty graphics, maybe not as well as high end computer but they came along ways from the n64, playstation one and such.
it all comes down to, niether are better. what games fit you and other things. such as multiplayer online, xbox has live which i have heard is better then the ps2 online. and i guess if you like final fantasy :? then w/e but since i got an xbox i say xbox is better. and xbox has sweet backdoor programs such as xbox connect so you never need to use live to enjoy its fun online features. oh yes halo online is sweet, waite til halo 2 :wink:
