I'm hoping the loading delay has been fixed.

I have a 3.0GHz/HT so I didn't notice even a .1 spike in processor usage before. Somebody please try this an let me know. Thanks!

The only known side effect is garbaged data and distances prior to the loading finishing. This should only take a second then everything should be fine.

I just re-try to load Namik = 27 seconds !

NamikX takes 1 second. Cool ... but it don't work. The message window say :

Prefs: VRefNum is "0"; Filename is "(null)"

Thanks for the new version of Namik. I wait for a version with it fixed.

Hrm... I didn't know that I included NamikX. It doesn't do much of anything as of yet. Even less without any Extras. Namik.brn should have been fix but I guess I have to find a slower comp to find the delay.

Has any other developers noticed where this is specifically? I figured it had to do with the 512 angles calculated with sin/cos. The map shouldn't take any load time, the only thing it does is load a tiny bitmap from the resources.

But geez, 27 seconds.. I wish I knew about this 2 years ago. I look into it when I get home today.

winbolo crashes when I try to use namik
something tell me this is not its purpose

I tossed NamikX.brn in on accident, I changed the archive on the site. It should now be Namik.brn. Sorry!

Anyone have a chance to try the new 1.6.0 release yet?
Nov 09, 2004 00:40
1.6 loads like a dream, so so so much better. Thats the only feature I played with, although for some reason auto-scrool somehow turned on, which was annoying, guess it didn't take my current settings or something. But it still roxs!

Namik 1.6 takes 1 second to log and runs good ! I didn't try it a long time and not all options but it works.

Can you explain me how to use Target tools and how it works ? Like i said, i don't use it but i want to know exactly !

Thanks. :)
Nov 10, 2004 23:25 Keyboard controls
1 - Changes the map tile size to the smallest (1x1)
5 - Changes the map tile size to the largest (8x8)

Shift + 1 - Changes the size of the map window to the smallest
Shift + 5 - Changes the size of the map window to the largest

6 - Enables and disables automatic missile dodge
This will steer away from the majority of incoming missiles. Glitch: also dodges your own missiles on occasion

Shift + 6 - Enables and disables Advanced Road Construction.
As far as I can remember, this will build roads around you in a 3x3 block starting with the road under you and then directly in front of you. Base building pretty much

Face Target (E) will aquire the closest target and turn to face it directly (a tank will add a little lead ahead but not enough to actually hit your target. (yet)

Release Target (Q) will release your target and no longer show it as highlighted on the map

Hostile Pillbox (N) will target the nearest pillbox (doesn't always work)

Hostile Tank (X) will target the nearest or next Tank (doesn't always work)

Build Road (Z) will build a road directly under you (or uses the advanced mode if enabled)

Quick Farm (K) grabs the nearest tree (A little sketchy if it determines the nearest accurately but close enough)

Slow Left/Right (O/P) will turn the tank slowly instead of rapidly

Increase/Decrease (R/F) range are the same as in WinBolo
Range Change is how rapidly the range increases or decreases

Lock Target (V) will lock or unlock the current target. You can not change the target again until this is unlocked or your target is no longer available.

Toggle Map (M) toggles the map
Toggle HUB (~) changes the modes of the HUD

Pause/Resume (H) disables or enables every function of the Borg except for key input.

Repair (C) no idea, probably repairs the nearest pill. (I don't recall if it is even implemented)

Namik\Direct Input\Active Only will allow you to play Bolo when it is not active. (Great for running and playing two instances on the same computer at the same time)

Namik\Direct Input\Exclusive is for use if you have trouble with loosing your controls occasionally. Troubleshooting only.
Namik\Direct Input\Background please read above

Namik\AI does nothing

Soooo...does that mean it doesn't work with MS-DOS 6.2?

That would be a bummer.

Funny, I can't connect to "hub-cafe". As soon as I click on it a window pops up saying "Connection refused."

that explains alot, and where can I get a copy of this windows 91? was it like the never released version between 3.11 and 95?

I dunno, wasn't '91 before even Windows for Workgroups? If you really want, I'll recompile it with Win32's. Then you can play in Windows 3.1.

I dunno, try again, it may just not like you but I've had a little over a hundred visits in two months. Pretty nice given that I have no content.

com and net lead to the same, try both:

It works now.

Thanks Acrion for your "help post". Like you said, some options are off. I have tried all functions and some of them aparently don't work but i think they will not be the most used. The loading time is very short now like i said. COOOOOOL ! :D
