FireIce "Winbolo Pic Album" update

Dec 09, 2004 15:30 FireIce "Winbolo Pic Album" update
FireIce on IRC said that he is currently too lazy to update his "Winbolo Pic Album". And probably that many of us have send their pics to FI (I did !).

I think that he needs all our encouragements to update it ! I want to see more pics

If he did, this one would send him a picture...

I concur

FireIce's site is the one that leads all the newbies toward better comprehension toward the whole game and the pics will certainly inspire others...

:)Thanks for the encouragement.

The problem I have with the winbolo pic page is that it's all manual - I have to manually make the pages and and stuff. I have a template, but it takes me about 15 minutes or more per picture or so from moving from email -> to uploading it on my website. Figure that I have about 50 ppl featured and that sometimes it takes more then 15 minutes - it just takes too much time. If I add 4 new people, that's an hour eaten away.

And then add to that people who want their picture taken down or blah blah blah, and/or people moving away from winbolo, it's not worth it doing the way I've been doing it.

If someone has (and is willing to install) an automated and easy way to have a pic album, that is flexible to add new people/new pics easily, and yet allows users to remove their picture if they change their mind - I'm willing to listen.

Until then I think I'm going to work on my many other projects instead. I've already spent countless (probably 100+) hours on this pic album, time for someone else to take over :-).

I might be interested... Let me think about how I'd set it up.

update to those many who keep asking: i'm still not gonna update the pic page - but any submission you send will be turned over to whoever will take over the pic page - assuming the new person who's taking care of it wants the pics. Fermat has still expressed intereste in it, and from what I heard from him, he's got some cool ideas about how to set it up.

Ghetto-ass way to do it: get yourself a phbpbb forum somewhere, make it one-section, one-thread and then post people's pictures in the first post.

I just learn ASP and PHP and i'm not skilled now to keep it. I see some possibilities, but i can't make them now. Perhaps in some months or years ... ;) But if i can help someone to work on some pictures with Photoshop to improve them (size, colors...), i will enjoy it.
