March '05 FBL - Enrollment Open

Enrollment is now open for the March '05 FBL. Though it is called "March", players may enroll and begin playing each other now. (I would encourage this as many players did not finish their games last time.) The league will end after the last day of March. Enrollment ends March 10.

As with the last one, three skill-based divisions have been created.

I liked your point system :) according to that I would've placed 2nd because I'm a 1v1 machine :twisted: It might need some tweaking, maybe keep fermats points for the divisions and use alians points all around. For instance if I played (insert name of player from a different division here) and won I would get 5 points and then it would count games that werent played in your league (does that make sense)? Alain come onto irc sometime and I'll talk with you about it. I'm almost always on.

Fermat here's an idea for a 4th section for the FBL, or a new league all together. Make one dedicated to Smallball!

I once thought it'd be cool to have a smallball tourney, but then I realiazed, part of the smallball fun is that we realize it's not a real-game. I'm concern that making it a tourney may make people as uptight over winning in smallball as they currently about normal maps.

Regardless of what other activity you are engaged in, watching a rerun episode of Martha Stewart Living, does not count as viewing a porno video.

It all depends on what turns you on, I think.

Fermat, I've think about what Brando asks and I found another reason to modify a little your league's point system, if you agree and if it is technically possible.

I'm actually alone in my division (Novices) and then, I have no games to play ! It is difficult to find players in my playing hours (we are all sprayed around the world !) but with no players in my division, it becomes impossible to play in the league !

Then I ask you Fermat : is it technically possible to add a column with an "extra-division Alain points" based on my same point system ?

It will allow us to report and show games played vs other divisions players. These points must be keeped separates because they are "unofficials", they will just show the league participating (not a real ranking), allow to play games to someone alone in his division, extend our chances to find players and permit to play more games to the ones who are 1x1 machines ! And all that in your League Fermat !

Fermat, please think about it and tell us your opinion, thanks ! :D

If email sent to <player>@winbolo.net bounces, then the confirmation email will not be received and you cannot confirm your registration.

Others waiting for confirmation are Spun, RubberDuck, and 99_Suck. If you guys can send me a quick email or post here to confirm your have indeed attempted to register, then I can confirm it for you.

Btw, I *am* slowly working on allowing people to use their winbolo.net passwords on my site... I believe that by the next league that will be in place.

I think a lot of people are looking at the current people in their division to make decisions about the league, and I think this is wrong. I have placed a March 10 deadline to enroll, and I expect more people will enroll, especially if people spread the word in the chat room. Last time I spent a single night asking "hey, want to enroll in the league?" and got half of the people to enroll who were finally in the league.

I'm open to suggestions... I can keep it hidden until a certain start date... Or have everyone not in any divisions and add divisions later...

I will think about this idea of allowing people to play from different divisions... I'll need to work out the details on how to store/display these results and what sort of point system would make sense. It certainly wouldn't be in place for March '05 FBL.

Yeah, asking straight seems to accomplish more here. More then half the pics on my pic page were from me asking straight up to an individual if I could have their pic for my page.
