Open Source Bolo

What would it to take for the WinBolo source to be released under an OSI approved license? I'm not an open-source zealot but I would like to see more happen with the game. There have been a number of threads here full of Bolo wishlists and it would be nice to see some of those wishes brought to fruition. The core game can (and probably should) stay the same but it would be nice to open the door for people to innovate with the game.

So, I ask the question again. What would it take for the authors to open-source WinBolo?

It would take alot of honest, sane gamers. Unfortunately, this is not the situation here.

naw this will never happen. winbolo is on the microsoft method...release shit, let the users deal with the shit until the author releases new shit.

Why would it take a lot of "honest, sane gamers?" If the code is really poor, it may be possible to introduce a number of cheats. Of course, if the code is opened, the cheats could be fixed.

If those holding the code wished to release it in any shape or form, that would have happened quite a while ago.

I believe even before the original version of WinBolo was released Elvis said that he wanted to work on it alone. Something about wanting the experience.

All I can say is that it may just take one truly insane programmer.

And we have a few of those here.
