Locking DELETED THREADS?

Sep 03, 2005 18:38 Locking DELETED THREADS?
I would like to politely ask why the thread "DELETED THREADS?" was locked.

Here, Min states that the policy is in effect.

However, Later that day... Min locks a thread which DID NOT violate policy.

Min muttered some shit about the thread being irrelevant and that being the reason that he locked it. In the policy it is not stated in any place that threads that are currently irrelevant should be locked. Why was this thread locked? Min?

Uh you just said it yourself. The thread is pointless now, there's a new policy. No need to talk and argue about it, if you don't like it tuff luck.

DTM, no one here wants min's mods removed. Stop trying to do this (Trying to ruin wbn). Please just crawl in a hole and die. You are making a huge deal out of nothing... All he's doing is keeping idiotic people like you from making wbn a lame place, which i might add you've done a great job and scaring everyone off already. Quit trying to wagon min out of here, it's not going to work. Besides, we'd rather have you leave then him.

oh, btw, NEWSFLASH: NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY.

just quit while you are behind.

Killin' them youngins' everyday.

I think it's all payback for the switch to .net on IRC, which kind of left him in the cold. Now he's got to make a big splash.

OK, I never said anything about not liking the new policy, I voted for it, but i still don't understand why "DELETED THREADS?" was locked. The new policy doesn't say anything about "irellevent threads" needing to be locked. Min stated that the new policy was in effect, and then locked something which didn't violate policy: the thread "DELETED THREADS?".

DTM, if you just scroll through the threads that are locked you'll find many with questionable reasoning for locking them. It comes down to the matter in many of them, simply min getting the last word.
Sep 05, 2005 17:37
They were locked because they were going off topic.

No part of the policy says that off-topic posts need to be locked.

What happened to that "no bullshit" part of the policy you were promoting?

First off, it was a joke. Second off, if you actually payed attention to the discussion, I was promoting having threads or posts that were off topic moved to general chat, and having them, NOT APPEAR ON THE FRONTPAGE. No bs just isn't going to happen, but if we have just one forum to keep all the crap in, everything else won't be bogged down by it. I post one thing, and all the sudden I'm a bs flinger? Wtf? It's called a joke, and no one is reading your thread anyway.

Correction: No one wants to hear Dan harping on the same old shit.

why certainly, I'll spell it out for you in terms you and lrl can understand, becuase you both seem to have some serious issues with the english language.

- Mods may lock topics that are inappropriate*, with mod vote to unlock.

the above line gives me as the moderator, decision making power over what is 'inappropriate' .... listed in the policy are some -examples- of things that may be inappropriate. Posting in an 2 year old thread, about something that is no longer relevant is inappropriate, if you don't agree, feel free to make a post detailing why not in the thread about updating the policy further, this also includes threads that are so far off topic that they turn into idiocy.

Any more stupid questions? ... or shall I just wait another few weeks for you to come up with another one....

Min, you realize, of course, that I love you and I'm thisclose to running up to Canada and marrying you?

That being said, I don't think I've heard anything back on having the General chat not pop up on the front page other than "it's a good idea" or something along those lines. I'm assuming that that particular change would be Elvis's domain, but have you talked to him about it? The reason I'm asking you is because you seem to have a closer connection to him than I do somehow.
