this may be a stupid question but i just dont know much about this stuff...i recently got a mac g5, but i wanna play some fuckin winbolo. theres gotta be some free emulaters or something for mac to windows...at least i think so. if any of u know about that stuff....let me know.
thanks.
Fube.
You might want to find yourself a nice software forum and post this there, too. Naturally we've got us some computer people around here, too, but the extra input couldn't hurt.
There really isn't anyway that you can play winbolo on a mac.
The reason for this has to do with both the processor and the OS. They both process binary differently, which is why winbolo won't work on macs, and macbolo won't work on windows.
So I guess we are stuck begging Elvis to port winbolo to macs...
You can emulate XP in OS X, but it's terribly slow. You might be able to play Winbolo. But I don't think it's worth spending $70+ for an emulator. Just buy a PC for $50 or get it for free and play Winbolo on that.
What's the specs on the G5?
Yes, you could use an emulator to play winbolo, but setting up network connectivity can be tricky and emulators are inherently slow.
I run Windows XP on the G5 at work. Software called 'Virtual PC.' Seems to work OK for mundane stuff. Haven't tried Winbolo on it because this is a pretty important workstation.
This type of thing is known as a 'virtual machine.' Sort of the same way the G-series processors run 68000 code written for really old macs. Yes, it slows things down quite a bit, but with a DP G5, it's not that bad.
No, that looks like it just converts Windows Media Video (wmv) movie file to QuickTime. What you need is an emulator or something to process the DirectX (and win32) calls ala Wine for Linux.
There is always Bolo. Though it's not as active as Winbolo, it is for mac at least.
There is bolo for mac but forget trying to play any one over the net who is playing winbolo, not sure what the original bolo for mac uses for trackers...
