Old Open Tactic Gone by the Wayside?

Oct 13, 2005 23:42 Old Open Tactic Gone by the Wayside?
When I first joined Winbolo.net way back when I found a rather annoying or humorous tactic (depends on which side you're on) that was widely practiced by many different people. Lately, I've noticed that not too many people do this anymore. Let me explain.

It starts out as a normal open game. Pills are taken, LGM's are dying (especially mine) and bases are captured. Naturally, alliances form and people attempt to work together in creation of the infamous "mega-base." So in the process you and your ally have amassed 7 or 8 pills. 3 for you and say (for the sake of arguement) 5 for for your ally. In the process of nuturing your precious mega base you discover to your horror that all of your ally's pills have turned a nasty shade of red as he leaves your alliance. You are quickly pummeled and all of your pills are gone.

This used to happen to me OFTEN way back when. And I must confess that after the 5th or so time this happened I did it myself with great, sadistic amusement. In fact, on several occations I was so pissed I would leave the alliance right before I left the game - this is kinda mean - alright, really mean so I don't do that anymore. However, I haven't seen anyone do this in a long time. Has anyone else seen this recently? Is there a name for this tactic? Anyone?

It's actually spelled "neutering". But thankyou for making a valid effort.

Typical.

I hope you didn't piss on your girlfriend, like you did last time DAllen.

It's a good thing you didn't hire Acro or Jason#8 to piss on your girlfriend, or one of them would have certainly gotten DANGEROUSLY close. Nice move on that part DAllen. I would have been amused too.

Most of the people that I personally know don't do such pathetic things. It's just how culture works these ways DAllen.

Yes, it's called the DAllen tactic, but I doubt it'll work with almost any girl DAllen, sorry. HOWEVER, there are rumors of this tactic working with Nobody (Yes, this is a great opportunity for a Nobody joke).

I found some names for this tactic :

1 - "How to destroy this game tactic"
2 - "How to be detested by everybody around me tactic"
3 - "Look how I'm stupid tactic"
4 - "What useless thing can I do now tactic"
5 - "How can we quickly loose this game tactic"
6 - "Let me show to everybody that I'm 8 years old tactic"
7 - "Let me play like CF tactic" (I like this one... lol)
8 - ...

Not more time to elaborate more ideas, but you keep the meaning now I think. Keep the one you prefer ! lol :D

PS : have a look at my "Paris Pics" in general chat.

Make sure to shoot your own LGM a lot, too, if you really want to play like CF.

On a similar note to what Dallen was describing, does anyone else remember the old bolo pillkilling tactic of heating up a friendly pill next to an enemy pill, then leaving alliance and letting the formely-friendly-but-now-hostile-and-angry pill kill the enemy pill? There was a name for this tactic, but I don't remember what it was. The leave alliance trick, or something like that.

The only tricky part was your ally had to be ready to re-ally you right away. Does anyone still do this one?

How is it when I post stuff about tanks and alliances I get told I'm in the wrong forum, wasting space, hardly anyone replies, and then when crap like this is posted its just fine? That pisses me off.

I thought you were talking on the wrong part of the forum on that other thread, Beast, but was wrong. It was also wrong to even mention it. I dunno what got into me.

You aren't as involved because most people don't really know you yet. That'll change. Dan posts alot of garbage because he likes the attention; and people like shooting him down because he's constantly flaunting his 'perceived' wisdom in our collective faces. It's NOT fine, imo. I'd like to see Dan's posting privileges revoked, but it's not up to me.

I don't see anything wrong with your forum activity and I will enjoy your future topics as much as I have the existing ones.

anyways

becuase in winbolo when you leave alliance, you take the pills you had with you, rather than the bolo way that if you left alliance, you left with nothing, its much harder to pull off this particular move, so, its not really practical in game to do.

It never was practical to do.

For whoever was asking what these tactics were named: http://bishop.mc.duke.edu/bolo/guides/pbg/text/appendix1a.html

Hit "next" a few times as well.

That is really close to what I am talking about. But what that site is refering to is a situation where you "re-ally" the person you are with. What I was talking about is leaving an alliance with the sole purpose of capturing all your former ally's pills and go solo with a mega base - or something like that.

Still, that's really interesting.

Maybe call it "Benedict Pill" or "BP" for short.

Right, I know what you were talking about, but someone else brought another "leave alliance" tactic up.
