Problem to start a game from bots

Nov 15, 2005 19:02 Problem to start a game from bots
I need somebody to recover my ability to start new games from bots. Since 11/12/2005, I was unable to log into cgiirc to start new games from bots. At first I thought I was banned to start new games. Fermat told me that no posting indicates I was banned. He suggested that possiblly becasue of firewall. I have no idea about this. I suspect the version of the irc software. I downloade mIRC. I still didn't work with guidence from Jideep.

I'm certainly not the authority on IRC, but I suggest installing the latest version of mIRC,
then type /server irc.winbolo.com
then type /join #winbolo

see if this gets ya anywhere
also, you are not banned.

If this fails, check to see if any of your firewall/router settings have changed recently or if you have recently added or removed any software on your system for which the timing might be approximately when you lost access.

Not on IRC, not anywhere else.

That's strange, usually doing what Acro says makes problems worse, not better.

Acro,

As I said earlier, I downloaded mIRC very recently. I am able to log into the mIRC. However, after type "/server irc.winbolo.us," I got error message of "unable to connect to the server."

Thanks.

Try irc2.winbolo.us

You could also try a few other IRC programs. Trillian, X-Chat, and chatzilla have all served me pretty well in the past. Good luck.

Nova,

Thanks for your infor. But Jideep told this and I have tired. The same erorr message of "cannot connect to server."

I doubt this'll help any, but could you walk me through the steps you take to get into mIRC? I might spot something you're not doing right, I dunno. If not, go ahead and try another IRC client. No guarantees but it's something to try, at least.

See, this is a reference example of how CF is unhelpful and irritating by nature. Thanks for showing us how to reveal CF's true 'colors' (black, gray etc.) Boro. :D

It's odd you can't get into IRC, oroB. Perhaps you could tell us what you have for a connection and what types of security programs you have. Also try logging into IRC using the link on the .us website and select 'open new connection'.

http://www.winbolo.us/irc.htm

(select IRC Server from the menu and hit Open New connection.)

I would also recommend trying to connect to a number of different irc servers using mIRC. There is irc.winbolo.us, irc2.winbolo.us, irc3.winbolo.us, irc.winbolo.com and some more I don't know about. You might only have trouble connecting to one of them.

Acro,

Thanks a lot. Your link worked well. First the link automatically set up my m-IRC and I connected to irc.winbolo.us successfully via mIRC and I started a new game from it. Secondly, to my supprize, my cgiirc works also now. I suspect somehow my computer setting messed up. Once problem was corrected, everything else straiten out. I don't know what the right thing was, but I can start my new game now.

I appreciate the help from you and others.

You mean something Acro said actually worked? My God, alert the media!

Acro,

The irc quit working again. I think the website "http://www.winbolo.us/irc.htm" does work properly. Clicking your link failed to bring that website up.

Nah, it isn't you. It's not online at the moment. I'm not in, either.

Boro: It's not working for me, either. I think it's down.

Whoop, looks like we're back.
