(Nova) EG - Hollywood Documentary [extremely picture-heavy]
For those of you who wonder how my maps begin and how I go about
making them. To be sure, there's loads of other things more exciting
than me making a map but for those with nothing else better to do, here's
my map-making documentary.
And so begins my map:

Adding some preliminary fancies:

Expansion and refining:

More expansion and refining:

The coloring begins, only on a computer am I able to stay within the lines:

More coloring, I'm slightly unsure where to go and kinda feel like laying out a base for the map
has stifled my creativity:

As if the project wasn't enough of a pain in the ass, I find out that
symmetry was slightly off. Coming up: my war on asymmetry.

In I go to BoloReich, the last remaining map editor with copy & paste.

My method to get the symmetry back in order: instead of putting in all
the pieces by myself, I select a section, rotate it to the right and
flip it horizontally. Then I find the top-left corner of where the section
is on the other side. It's a real pain in the ass but it beats doing it
all by hand.

And it's fixed!

Now I go to get the rest of the map back in order:

Now that it's fixed, some more coloring:

Getting back the symmetry:

Done with the color, but I'm not so pleased with its overall brightness.
I decide to try and tone it down a little:

Still not terribly pleased, but I decide to quit while I'm ahead and work on the frame:

Even still, the map isn't all I'd hoped for but since it wasn't bad as it
could've been, I decide to stop while I'm ahead.

Fini.
