Log files are .zip format, so when they are downloaded WinXP automatically adds the .zip extension, which is annoying. Thus, when opening the files, they aren't listed.

The scrollpane / textarea isn't expanding to the height of the "Game Events" window.

Elvis: I think .wbv might be free according to the website you used to determine that .wlg was used by another application.

Thanks. Part of the problem is that file extension is not registered with the operating system. (will be part of the installer) The other part of the problem is that the web server was sending them out with a default content type (text/plain) This caused IE to try and guess what should be done with them and add bad extensions. I have modified the webserver to give a more meaningful content type back for the log files. The WBN log downloader already does this, but since the test files were only linked they do not.

Interestingly FireFox does not try to guess what the file type is.

The scrollpane / textarea isn't expanding to the height of the "Game Events" window.
Thanks, will modify accordingly.

I'll change it to wlv or wlm before release. It doesn't matter that much, how many different applications use the .map file extension?

No it is not possible. 1.15 servers can record log files.

will they be aoutomaticley reported into the Wbn database?

If a server is logging (off by default) and participating with WBN (on by default) then log files will be automatically uploaded unless the server administrator disables the functionality.

To enable logging it is a matter of adding a -log command to the dedicated server. If no filename is present after the -log a filename will be generated based upon the current time and map name. -log (filename) is also avaliable if server administrators wish to always log to the same filename. This may be useful to overwrite the log file every time the server starts, as they may be uploaded. No final decision has been made on how long the logs will be available for download from WBN.

The log viewer crashes for both me and min at the 30:54 mark for this file:

(It's the 3v2 of Elvis and Ren vs Ari (Tip), Timbnz and myself). The game is not over at that mark, it still has a few more minutes to run. Since both Min and I have the log crash at the same spot, I downloaded a new copy of the log viewer. It still crashes.

Where do we get the patch?

Also, how long are logs available?
Apr 22, 2006 20:14
are the logs only for strict turnement games or open games too?
Apr 22, 2006 21:21
It records both Open, Strict ,and Tournament games even when there aren't players in the game. So you could be looking at a map for a few hours and nothings happening.

If you are downloading the game from WBN, you can have a look at the log display to see what happens in the game before downloading.

Its currently being tested. It will be posted when available.

Also, how long are logs available?

This has not been finalised. Logs will probably be removed oldest first once a certain amount disk space has been used. So far there are 70Mb of log files available on WBN since 1.15 was released.
Apr 22, 2006 23:09
What if a volunteer agreed to store older logs ?

Elvis: That works great now - the log does indeed go past the previous crash point.
Apr 23, 2006 03:56
When tank A is killed by tank B, the log viewer displays it as:

"Tank A just killed player Tank B"

It's backwards.

Elvis: Short suggestions for log file names.

In addition to the date, having: the map name and the wbn name registered players in the game (if having the names of everyone is too complicated).

For example the log file name could be:

20060423020441 chew toy 3 ren underdog derami

I think having the names of the players in the game makes it much easier to remember which game corresponds to which log - as that's how we probably naturally remmember games - who was in it. That way after downloading a bunch, we can just jump to the log we want to view.

I'm not sure the need for the server name, unless it is needed to differentiate the logs on the wbn server.
Apr 23, 2006 14:10
I've now chenged the log file download name to be:

<timestamp> - <map name> - <WBN players>.wbv
