[b]How do I play against the computer???[/b]

Whats up, this is Evan (A.K.A--The_Moth)
Im kind of a newbie, iv been playin for about a month online and i need some more practice. I want to practice against the computer so im not online all the time but i dont know how to use the brains. I must be stupid or somthing but I cant get them to work, i just cant figure it out.
I would really appreciate it if someone would reply and help me out. Just tell me the steps or somthing, just so i can play against the computer.

first, u must make sure that they are "winbolo" brains that will work on a windows platform. "Bolo"/mac brains will not work. U must put all the files into your brains folder (located in ur winbolo folder). Since there r only about 4 winbolo brains and all of them really suck(no offense to any "brain makers" out there) it isnt really worth playing against them and expecting to get better. its a waste of your time. U should join the irc channel and join games with REAL PEOPLE. Conclusion: The bots REALLY suxors. :D Btw, u should get a broadband (adsl :D , cable :x ) or ppl will probably never want to play with u becuz you will laaaagggg, and slow the game waaaaayyy down.

Once inside a game you can activate a brain by selecting it from the Brains menu. Do you see any brains in the brain menu when playing a game? If they are grayed out and not selectable that means that you have not allowed brains in your game. This can be done from the Game Setup window prior to starting the game. For more information see section 3.1.5: Game Setup in the WinBolo manual (on page 20)

Now once you activate a brain it will take over playing your screen instead of you. If you wish to play against brains you must start a network game and join several clients to it. See section 2.18:Brains/How to Play without a network from the WinBolo manual on page 18.

I read that brains in the winbolo platform arn't upto par with the ones made in mac bolo because of the movement algorithm that can’t be transposed into the windows brain programming. I tried to figure out the algorithms mathematics off a friend of mines web page but I couldn't figure out how to begin transposing it to the newer one since I'm not proficient in the language and didn't even understand on how to begin. I noticed this is a problem for many since the two are entirely different platforms and have different ways of doing things. I will tell you one thing. I've found a very good borg though and I use it to see the entire map, players and position of things but when it comes to Robotic AI nothing is available in the sute. :)

ok to answer your question moth, you would have to download it off any web site and it would come zipped. Namik is one of them.
What you would have to do is find where your winbolo program folder is and find where the brains folder is in it. Now after that you drop tha unzipped brain into it the next part is to then make sure have access to it from the brains menu in your game. Like the guy who posted above said, you must have brains accessable in the game and then you would be able to choose the brain from the drop down menu in the game.
