Pilltakes, LGMs, and me
So, I'm not a newbie, and back in the macbolo days was one of the better pillwarriors. So it's a mystery why I find myself completely unable to execute a pilltake by placing one of my pills directly next to a neutral, while rebuilding my pill and killing the neutral in one pass. This was the easiest thing on earth in the other version. In fact, two things surprise me:
(1) It's not my timing, because I get hit with incoming shots *before* I fire the last shot that kills the neutral pill. Obviously, sending an lgm at that point would be suicide. Is this maneuver actually possible? Perhaps my ethernet connection doesn't provide enough lag, but if that's true, that's a pretty serious disadvantage.
(2) Speaking of suicide, I can send a rebuild and have it be a full cursor-square away from my tank before a single incoming shot hits me, yet my lgm still dies when the bullets hit me (and not it). Why? I recall in mac bolo that as long as you clicked "rebuild" before shots hit you, you were fine.
I find this really frustrating, if that's not obvious. Any advice is appreciated. In answering this question, it might be helpful to note that I've been trying these things on a practice map, i.e., in a game with zero ring delay or pretty close to it. Should I go invest in a 14.4k modem?
