Scam Alert---anyone else get this?

May 27, 2006 17:43 Scam Alert---anyone else get this?
I got a message from eBay that said that "payment had been sent" or something. The "to" section of the e-mail said it'd been sent to "nova at winbolo dot net," which led me to think that you folks might've gotten similar messages. Anyone?

May 28, 2006 00:52 Always check!
if you get a "letter from ebay"
there are two important things to check
make sure it isn't sent to "ebay member" IT MUST BE ADRESSED TO YOU
second, if it links to a "sign in" area
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CHECK THE ADRESS BAR AND MAKE SURE IT IS GOING TO EBAY!

you gotta keep your eye out for these things
people suck

or better yet, don't click any link in any email regarding paypal or ebay. Its against ebay and paypal policy to put ANY LINK in one of their emails. So don't click!!!

What are you talking about? The "endofitem" email I got from ebay contained 20 or more links. Also, I highly doubt they would put anything of the sort in their policy.

Nova: It very well maybe that the funds were sent to another account other then the one you wanted it to be directed to. As an Ebay store owner, I have seen plenty of issues on my end and other fellow seller's ends where the selection of where the payment sould be directed too would conflict between ebay and paypal causing the funds to float in limbo. My advice to you is to contact paypal, as ebay, will do nothing directly for you, until paypal has been corrected and you have an email to forward to ebay showing the accuracy of this.

Good luck

I don't see how it could've been sent to "another" account, seeing as how I've only got one set up. That doesn't really explain why it was sent to my e-mail forward, either.

Update: Got another one, again sent to my .net forward.

NEVER click or answer or type any information to/in these sort of emails coming from false commercial sites or banks. It's only spam and some bad guys want to stole logins and/or codes for bad using.
