What does your name mean?

Hi Union Mario! The nick zet doesn't mean much I was just in a rush to make up a nick. One day I was going to look at my profile on Cf's site and I coulden't remember the link so I googled zet. When I came to the site all the wording was in a foreign language and I took it for German. It looked like a phone company so thats what I said when people asked what my nick meaned.

I can't sing, but I picked this name because I like the water - swim, scuba, canoe, fish, cruise, tube, ski, soak.

I took the name of Pierre de Fermat, a well known 17th century mathematician who had a passion for number theory, as my handle since 1990 while working on my Ph.D. in number theory at Dartmouth College. I've consistantly used it ever since.

Sticks was given to me as a nick at my first job. Originally they had decided on Styx, like the mythical river, but realized that my twig-like arms and legs were more fitting for a nick.

And Siren, I do think you can sing but just don't do it 'round me.

It seems that Siren and Sticks have both greek mythology origins ! Anyone else in their club ? :)

:idea: I think that nobody has greek mythology origins because if nobody is not in that club, then it means that we are ALL in it... And I'm sure I don't have greek mythology origins, then nobody MUST be in that club... But how can it be possible ??? My mind is <@*µ%$+£¤#~§>ing ! :shock: :wink:

I started using this handle after deciding to play bolo again in 1997 after about a 2 year lay off(I had to graduate college, and playing bolo all night wasn't helping). Before quitting to graduate, I was killerloop or snapdragon from washcoll.edu.

When I started playing again I wanted a new identity in bolo, but couldn't think a good nick. I basically went searching for names in comic books, cartoons, movies, whatever. I used wolverine, killerloop again, and some other names for awhile. Well, one night I decided I was going to find a name for good and started looking through mytradiing card collection of comic book characters(mostly x-men) for names and saw my devilspawn tradiing card and thought well maybe that would work. Well, to make this long story short and as you know now, it stuck with me, and I became devilspawn for good. It got shortened to DS and then †DS†, as people just started calling me DS for short as it was much quicker to type in a game and such when they need a dec or whatever. The †'s came from the fact that I wanted to keep the supernatural/dark/religous or whatever you want to call it aspect of devilspawn so I added the †'s and it became †DS†.

Another reason for shortened abbreviation of †DS† was it made for a shorter nick when people played with nicks on...I believe the longer your nick was the sooner someone saw you come onto the screen if I remember correctly(shorter is better!)

Well...I've been using pipchamp every since I was a little kid for user accounts. My nickname is Pipper so thats were I got the Pip. Ussually pipchamp is taken so I just put a number on the end of all my user names.

But Pipchamp doesn't seem like too common of a handle though. Weird.

I systematically registered "pipchamp" on 3,234 different sites with profiles. Aint that grand?

From the first time a computer allowed me onto the high-scores list I've been Commander X. I believe that was on a pirated Apple II game.

Sadly, I don't make it onto the high scores very often. Real Life intervenes too often. It's fun to keep the old nick, though, and remember my college days in the computer lab.
