To address an only semi-related issue, I recommend harassing CoolFool in every bolo game. You may call it what you will: backharrassment, cruelty, domination, bullying, entertainment, a necessity - whatever. Let this most excellent activity carry over to IRC and on the street. Thank you.
It is acceptable in every game, Not my fault I spawned behind the enemy... :roll:
it's a type of strategy, but it really is something that pisses you off

I'm inclined to take the same perspective on this issue as I have on deforesting - since a lot of people seem to think it's ok, maybe the default assumption in any given game is that it should be unless otherwise stated. If the two team in a 3v2 realizes it's a tough enough match already and asks for no backharassing, and the other team agrees, then that's great. If not, well, there's no use in complaining after the fact.

I think that the use or not of all that discussed strategys (deforesting, mining, backharrassing...) could be set and accepted by all the players of a game before the "GO", during the teams are created.
If I understand "back-harassing" right, it's nothing more than going behind enemy lines and then... playing the game as normal? I don't understand the need for a distinction between "back-harassing" and regular gameplay. In my mind, it sounds just like exploiting a weakness in your enemy's defenses.
what is wrong with u people? maybe just maybe i can see not backharassing on a 2x3, but if u set all your pills up the front line and i spawn behind your lines, im gunna see how much trouble i can cause for u. thats just it. theres already to meny "rules" to this game. y try to add more? just because u hate it, and u might see a problem in it dont mean its wrong. :roll:

I so don't want to reply to this, but I feel as though I should say something...
backharrassing is fine in any game, but in a 2x3, 2x1, 2x4, 3x4, etc. I would find something else to do with my time if I were on the heavy side, but it's all fair and games unless decided upon before the game. I've noticed that players in winbolo have a win at any costs attitude which wasn't quite noticable in bolo. Whether it be backharrassing, carpet mining, deforesting whatever, whatever it takes to win you will do it, which is really fine because the game allows that to happen, but that doesn't mean it's fun for all, and that's just it. We all play this game to have fun. If you want to deforest and carpet mine you can find others who don't mind doing the same, and vice versa to the people who don't want that. The same can be applied to people using hacks. They have a win any costs attiude, and have devised a way to make it so by hacking. Well I don't play with hackers, and I don't have to play with people who don't agree with the same principles in winbolo that I do, but I put a disclaimer on that as to only in 1x1s because beyond that you can't sometimes make everyone happy. However, just let me know before our 1x1 that you don't mind deforesting or carpet mining, we will decide how to play it.
I guess I come from a different time where we wanted to lose because our opponent got a great snipe on our lgm, we planted poorly, we didn't run the bases right, we didn't farm right in a 2 hour game, or you just were better than myself or my team with takes, decs, placement, whatever, and eventually the deforesting/mining and back harrassing or whatever just dissolved from the game of bolo because we wanted a long drawn out fight of wits and talent then a who can deforest/mine/ or spike first on ct3(which is good sometimes I must admit). It just became accepted that we didn't deforest/carpet mine in game between the 15 players that played bolo regularly because we all had roughly the same skill level and we wanted to learn from each other, and I guess we knew we wanted to know about deforesting and carpet mining...
I have nothing to say really on the jumping go and farming before go thing but this: That was really never a problem in bolo and I can't understand why it is here. Don't do anything before go is called besides get to a designated start stop if you aren't in one was always understood in stricts when they became the game to play amongst the skilled players. .In bolo, we didn't even move up to land before go, which I found very odd in winbolo. We even incorporated start blocks in the deep sea for people to start at on he more recent made maps during that time. Everyone started at a block in the sea and went from there no questions, no complaints
but whatever...
I guess to sum this up. All of these tactics are great because they show how some of us have a lack of vision on how the game can be played/won/lost, but I guess there is a time and a place for all of these tactics, and sometimes you just want an all out war instead of repaving craters, and hunting down trees on tree soda which should never run out unless the game has gone for 2.5 hours and you farmed wrong.... :) I'm all for an all our deforest/ carpet mine/sink the island game, but let me know before hand is all, again only if it's a 1x1 cause in any other game...do whatever you want besides hack or the agreed upon rules of bolo which deforesting/carpet mining/back harrassing don't fall under...

wow, knuck, showing off how stupid you are again? that player wasn't me. and besides, i never complain about back-harassing in an even-numbered game. see those green and red circles in the upper right corner? you say you were a math major, but you can't seem to count that there are four greens and four reds. even if i were playing, i wouldn't hesitate to back-harass in a 4v4. nowadays, i only complain about back-harassing if it is agreed by ALL players ahead of time that it won't be done/ sheesh, knuck, you tune out the world and can't count - it's a wonder you made it through 2nd grade addition ...
