Oct 03, 2006 07:49 Cliff's Notes:
The short version:

(1) Brando kills a game I mapped - no players in it, yet (no one complains - it is annoying, sure, but I simply let him map one)

(2) I kill the game Brando maps - players in game, but game is ruined by another player joining, taking bases, killing lgms, stealing pills - some players have quit and no one complains, including Brando: all players agree that game is over

(3) I am immediately banned by Jhood, without warning or discussion, and without anyone asking me to be banned (including Brando, the mapmaker)

(4) Hood gives reason for my ban as 'for killing a game i didn't spawn' (which is not a bannable offense)

(5) Hood gives reason for Brando's non-ban as 'because the game he killed wasn't passworded' (non-passworded games are treated identically in the rules as passworded games, so again: not relevant to banning)

(6) I contact Hood and complain about the situation - concerned about the issue, I also post it to the forums.

(7) Hood looks into the case and retroactively gives different reasons for banning me and not banning Brando.

(8) Hood later explains that the 'actual' reason he kicked/banned me was because I killed a 'game in progress' whereas the game he didn't kick/ban Brando for was not yet a 'game in progress' - even though these explanations run contrary to the original reasons he posted both in MIRC and to the ops forums concerning my ban and Bran's lack thereof.

Above all, if other ops acted like him, YOU TOO could be banned for killing a game you didn't map even if everyone in the game agrees it is over and just wants to start a new one! YOU TOO could have someone just kill the maps you make because they 'don't like them' and not even risk a ban by doing so!

*shrug* I leave it to you all to decide - does this make sense?

<Deramisan> acrobot mapnp fitzhu
<Acrobot> Fitzhu v3.map @ winbolo://24.195.41.47:59548 - strict for 10 gamers
<Brando> ew
<Brando> that map blows.
<Brando> acrobot kill 59548
<Acrobot> Game destruction commencing - please stand by. Brando killed game 59548 on 24.195.41.47

I think you inadvertently broke a rule because you were new and weren't aware of how we handled things. If you had actually listened to our prior conversation, you would have understood that ending games early via IRC was against the policy that LRL and FireIce put into place. Instead, I believe you thought I was personally attacking you with my "opinions" on why a game shouldn't be killed before it was over, so you placed what I said aside as garbage and went ahead and ended that game. I removed you, you couldn't understand why, and you started a thread on WBN telling random people that I was God-knows-what to you.

I hope you get real soon, and somehow you finally understand that if our IRC channel was run by a bunch of idiots who acted the way you proclaim they do, you yourself would not be able to access it. Yes, I dislike some people, but I think you're just using my so-called "power" as leverage to jab me. I just moderate a chatroom. And hell, everyone and their mother can claim I removed you for personal reasons but is it just a coincidence that you broke policy??

In your mind, things would have been more logical if I had first messaged you and we talked this out. In my mind, you would have been keen to our conversation and not killed the players game. That was probably the most selfish thing you could have done - you wern't the only player in that game and having a 5th (or 7th) join and take shakes things up is not grounds to kill the game entirely - in fact most people would keep playing.. Since you enjoy others opinion of you so much, we could probably take a poll somewhere and I bet 90% of the users would state you think only of yourself or the people you have become friends with.

You're selfish, unaware, and confused. Period.

Too bad "YOU TOO could be banned for killing a game you didn't map even if everyone in the game agrees it is over and just wants to start a new one" doesn't apply at all to this situation, and I've never removed anyone for killing a game where everyone wanted it killed. You suggest I think before acting, perhaps you should have stopped and thought about the other players wants before you forced them to close the game..

Interesting how you just downplay your part in all this.. you broke the policy, brando didn't, regardless of how you see it. I had no ill will toward you at the time, and I still don't, regardless of the countless times you've thrown "fuck you hood" into my face both publicly and in the private messages.

Honestly, even if I had took the time to warn you again, I would have removed you. You seem to leave out that the "fight" we had where I formed this huge hatred toward you consisted of nothing more than me telling you not to kill games that weren't over.

And what's the time frame for this retroactive thing? Because I recall showing you where I cleared things up right after you were removed, it's not like just recently I woke up, saw things your way and began to save my ass. You're viewing this with very tainted eyes..

[JHood:] You seem to leave out that the "fight" we had where I formed this huge hatred toward you consisted of nothing more than me telling you not to kill games that weren't over.

Yes, it all started when you TOLD me not to kill games that weren't over ... including requesting all in opens when one team had all the pills. You, as an OP told me 'not' to do something that isn't against the rules - what the hell is up with that?

You brought that up last night. I think that's a bit of a stretch to think that.
