Performance Problems?

Jun 11, 2003 01:36 Performance Problems?
Hey folks

I just downloaded WinBolo 1.0.1.3 for the first time, and I'm having some severe performance problems. The game is running no faster than 4 frames per second, and I've tried turning off labels and such as the manual suggests, but the performance never improves. I'm running WinBolo on a 2.4GHZ P4, 1GB of RAM, a GeForce 4, running Windows XP, so I doubt it's a hardware problem. Any suggestions?

thanks!

Good suggestion Sticks.

What Nvidia driver version are you using Mojo?

What was the resolution LRL?

Thanks to LRL, we solved the problem by turning off hardware acceleration in the advanced display properties. I'm using a Dell laptop that has a Geforce 4 4200 Go, driver version 4.2.5.8.

The fix makes the game run smooth as silk, but because of the lack of hardware acceleration, a number of graphical glitches occur with WinBolo's interface. Specifically, the builder buttons on the left side of the window dissappear when pressed (you can see right through them to the desktop), though they're still functional, you just have to remember which buttons do what.

I tried running WinBolo on my other comp that has a Geforce 2 MX with the most recent driver, and it worked perfectly without having to turn off hardware acceleration.

Oh well, it's a fix for now :)

mojo, you might also try turning the hardware acceleration down and not completely off.

The performance problems stop when I disable hardware acceleration about half way, but the buttons still disappear unfortunately.

you can try loading a older nvidia driver.
