Suggestions: 1x1x1
I've been playing a lot of 1x1x1 LAN games and am looking for a little variety in maps. We have settled on (Dallen) Triangles as the standard which makes for a nice relatively quick game.
It makes for an even game as all three sides are (almost) symmetrical. The size of the map is small which makes the action quick. The amount/lack of trees can also play a role towards the end of the game.
We have played (sheeps) recycle a few times and it is another interesting 1x1x1 map. It is slightly smaller which makes taking a boat to try and spike the other islands very difficult and ends up about who controls the choke points between the islands. Trees conservation is also critical as long standing games can become a waiting game for tree growth. (Maybe the recycle name had a double meaning on tree recycling?)
If you haven't tried either of these maps I would recommend getting three relatively even players and giving them a try. At the very least they will give you practice of fighting on two fronts simultaneously.
Anyone make any suggestions on a similar maps or others they would recommend for 1x1x1 games?
