Splitting threads

Jan 22, 2008 01:02 Splitting threads
One of the moderators recently 'split up' a topic into two forums, and three posts. This fucked up the conversation that admittedly was off track, but wasn't spam, wares or anything mentioned within WBN's current policy. To be honest, topic-splitting could be quite beneficial to WBN but as I said, it's not technically part of the policy.

So my two suggestions would be the following:
1) Provide a link and explanation as to why a specific topic was split in situations where spam or wares are posted within a normal topic.
2) Request that WBN's policy be updated to include this feature and abide by it's current rules until that takes place.

I know it's funny to see an abusive, former IRC mod asking the forum mods (specifically siren) to behave, but WBN isn't a third-party fan site and people actually put some effort into designing a policy that works.

Rant over! Thanks for reading.

I didn't read it. My defamation keyword tool quickly selects appropriate words from your text and combines them into phrases that can be used to abuse you and others.

There is nothing in the policy that specifically disallows splitting. And quite honestly, I've used the splitting feature to remove porn from an otherwise fine discussion... I had to split a few topics as many as 4 times for this purpose in the recent weeks. Those posts were deposited in the moderator forum. Splitting of topics is allowed by the policy, and i don't think it needs to be specifically mentioned. We're not morons, and neither are you. So quit trying to stir up shit. kthanks.

You'd think poorly constructed computer-generated text would explain the low level of intelligence expressed in your posts and give you some sort of credit by default in doing so, but it surprisingly doesn't. :D

(am I using the same program?)

Unless the conversation between lucky and I was deemed "spam for things not bolo related" or a "double message", it's not in the policy. Not a big deal, I guess.. it just fucked up a conversation that I wanted to keep track of and if the mods are going to use it, I figured there should be some sort of addition to the policy that's always brought up to allow them to do so.

Porn and crap like that should be moved to the mod forum, but normal conversations that get split up into multiple threads in the general forum? That's pretty retarded.

It's like one of your multiple personalities tried to give you a reality-check!

Anyway that pesky 'reality' thing you shrug off leads me to believe that if three people replied in under five minutes, there is indeed an interest. ;)

edit: whoops more like 30 minutes.

Careful, Fido.. or you might end up having your single post split into three new topics!

Honestly.. how did underdog get opers and how did siren get mods...
