if you kill the game by allying, then the log for some reason does not upload. Also, if the bot does not log, then no log is produced.

It's called log viewer... not map viewer.

Logs do not exceed 2,000 kb. If a game goes beyond that point the log is not uploaded. It wasn't always like that, but I believe bottie's uploads are limited to maintain acceptable performance levels. If the bot crashes during the game, the log is not uploaded. Allying at the end doesn't affect whether or not the log is uploaded (that can be tested fairly easily if anyone wants to).

If you want to see the text, copy the lines and paste them into a word document.

Edit: After perusing the archived games list for the past day, it seems to me that bottie is no longer uploading logs. :(

This is a somewhat unbalanced act of kindness, but if LRL's willing to host it, I'll write that log search engine for bottie. IIRC, there was 5000 or so logs on his HD when we were talking about it so there's probably double that right now.

Could someone let him know and possibly let me know how many logs there are to index?

You got that right

I'd host it on my own servers but it's pretty useless without the gigabytes of logs that have sat on his disks since 1.15 came out but were never made publicly available. Strategically I figured I'd have to be nice in order to get access to them.

Unless someone else wants to take the ten minutes to script a engine to parse the logs into a searchable index. Change a logs extension to .zip and decode whats in the zip file, put the names in a database and put up a php file to search and return log files.

Just write the script and put it up for download. Different bot owners can use it as well as possibly Elvis himself for all the logs that are still on his servers but aren't in the Archived Games page anymore.
