Autopilots and Borgs

Feb 11, 2008 13:41 Autopilots and Borgs
so tonight i tested the three autopilots against each other and they all suck. basher tries to do his basher thing if he does anything at all and he doesnt seem to be aware of anything else. its a toss up between ryan and standered they both get confused easily some times they are long periods of time were they do nothing at all. in the end ryan is a little more competive and a lot smarter. but why would anyone wont to use an autopilot? they suck as an oppent and almost hinder you as an allie why hasnt anyone developed an autopilot worth the time it takes to download? Also the only bennifit i see from usin a borg is to have the map viewer. i tried all the available borgs and the only usefull is the autofarm auto road build and the pill drop other than that every other function seems like it would only be a hinderance on a players skill. why would anyone wont use a borg? if seen players usimg them and maybe it works for them but for me skill is earned and developed not programed and the map view is almost like cheating.

huh? ...... all the good players don't use borgs. They just get in the way.

If they use a borg, they arn't good, period. Only newbie's use borgs, they don't help.

actually, thats not true at all, it doens't take a borg to know were to find pills that have been 'stashed' so someone finding them quickly doesn't mean they 'must' have a borg. In fact, the map feature of a borg wouldn't allow a new joining player to see your stashed pills anyways. Its doesn't work like that.

I did that to someone in an open game, not sure if it was you. All I did was save the current map file and view it with Cartographer.

if its a small map and u dont hear an explosion but see pills fall? or maybe they havnt seen u on map forever and suddenly 2 pills drop? lots of reasons to know it is in deepmines....

plus taking about borgs and bots in open games seriously is epic LOL noobs

Its a fun way to waste your time and learn about a language if you already know C/C++. I tried putting together a few different brains just to see if it could be done. It can, but I suck at it.

Ryan's pretty good but it needs tweaking.

What would you do with a brain if you had one?

Are you going to split that irrelevant post into another forum or do you just do that with me?

Put them against one another on your computer just to see what they'll do. Or, if you build some that are good enough, join 3 or 4 of them to an open and team them up and see what happens.

I think that building WinBolo brains appeals to the part of me that likes to watch autonomous creatures go and do their thing. Kind of like ants in an ant farm. It's a closed environment, and there are rules to their behavior, but you still don't know what they'll do when faced with other creatures, opposing or friendly.

yeah i had the 3 available brains duel it out and ryan wins but a couple rayans and standards vs me dont even hinder me so brains arent worth there wieght in gold
