When is a Ban not a Ban?
DS banned me because: "Der joined a strict and purposely ruined it by rebuilding a pill while the game was in progress" - note that this isn't against policy. There were raging debates about this over a year ago and it was concluded by all ops at the time that unless and until someone is asked to leave they can do whatever they want in the middle of a game. Period. How do I know? Because people were joining games and ruining them, and when ops were asked about it (including LRL, Ren, Underdog and others) they specifically defended that position. When I exclaimed 'but that allows people to ruin games!' ops responded: then lock the @#$!ing game. Fair? Maybe not, but it's policy.
Underdog banned me because: "Later, he refused to leave a strict passworded game when asked by someone who was in the game before him. So kick ban issued." Note that I also asked Underdog to leave. Since neither of us made the map and the person who did spawn it specifically stated I could stay it is quite clear Underdog deserves to be banned for not leaving at least as much (if not more so) than I do. The policy states that if anyone asks you to leave you should: since we both asked the other to leave and neither did promptly we both should be banned if either. Anyone who doesn't follow this logic needs to retake the third grade, possibly more than once.
I don't play much anymore and honestly could care less about being banned, but as usual I wonder: doesn't anyone care that the ops are violating policy to ban at whim? Just curious, though I don't suspect I'll be back to check on your answers anytime soon. Cheers!
