I might put up some of the money, but at 225 a division, how many divisions are we talking about?

At least three:
Advanced
Experienced
Novice (acro, CF, auto-pilot, ect)

Also in addition to voting players into appropriate divisions, whoever runs the tournament will need the players email addresses and names in order to send the money / prizes, so players like Underdog won't be able to join the novice division for an easy win. (sorry to call you out, UD, but in IRC you acted like nobody thought this through)

I'm not sure voting to sort out divisions would be accurate. Maybe we need to do a qualification round. I'm not sure how that would weed out sandbaggers though, maybe put a tiered prizes so the higher devision gets the largest prize. All I know is even though I am a vet, I suck ass.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to have three players who've been around a while just assign players to the division they feel appropriate?

I count as a player that USED to be around! Heck, it's only been like 2 years. I see all you slackers are still causing trouble around here...
