Recently a few topics have had people posting weeks after they have been raised and as such the topics aren't as relevant. (eg "I'm banned from IRC" etc) Do we want a policy such that topics be automatically closed off after a period of time to prevent new posts being added later.

How about if we lock them after say 2 weeks of inactivity (no new posts to the thread)?
Question: How long should forum topics remain open before being locked to prevent new posts?
One of the answers: never
Does that mean the topic should never be open?
:)
I vote "never close the thread".
It is pretty cool going back to old threads and adding information or stuff to it - as I did with Stick's soundpack, and min's minborg thread. It keeps from having to break one topic into different threads.
It's also pretty easy looking at the date the post was made and realize if it's relevant or not...and just post "not relevant" for those Noob who don't.
Should they be closed? Hmmm, how bout not. They should remain open, some threads can go on 4ever and pplz shouldnt have to start a new thread cuz thats disorganized. And about that post (unban me please), that post is really old and im not quite sure why indiana started it up again and why Q-mandabomb chose to use it to test his signiture (mine still dont whurk, dammit). I voted "Never". Elvis, can u plz lock that thread?

fi: Changed the meaning of answer one to the intended meaning.
Is there ever going to be some time period where threads are deleted. Maybe after several months or so?
I was thinking along the lines after several months pulling them and archiving them, instead of them taking up space in the forums. Maybe an idea later on.
i vote two weeks after, as i noticed that alot of VEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRY old topics have been brought up by *certain* people
stimpy, thats a very good idea as posts may go for a very long time while other posts are short and quick posts soo yeh very good idea
