Why the hell is there no compatible LinBolo?

Hey everyone. I'm running Linux now (and have been for a couple of years, I encourage you all to do so) and figured that I might want to give Bolo a try again, but then came on here and realized that there is no current Linux version! Why the hell not? The Linux games market is smaller than the PC games market, Bolo would probably have a better chance there :-P!

Why is easy to answer: because no one who can has done it. The source code is available to anyone who would like to get it working, but there are no current Winbolo developers, let alone Linbolo.

Welcome back, MaddMaxx!

Cross-platform clients are still in the works. We used our nix resources to prioritized getting the server working, rather than updating the game client.

I'm in the early stages of porting all the DirectX routines to OpenGL and using QT to draw the user-interface, which should in theory provide a game client that works on Linux, OS X and Windows. Takes time, though.

(The networking code is above my intelligence, so this project might stall until someone works on getting the endian stuffs working)

Well, send me an email when we have a client working.

I'll make a note and be sure to email you as soon as we have it taken care of. Thanks MaddMaxx.

Thank you Nemo ^-^. About how many people play these days anyways?

Holy shit, it's my old nemesis...

What are you up to these days? If I remember right you're... 23 now? 24?

20 actually. I am currently unemployed as I was laid off due to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games halting construction (of ANYTHING). Waiting to go to school in March for my second year of technical training as an electrician. I spent four months of the last year (in the Summer) in the Russian Motherland, and miiiiiiight go back there again this Spring depending on certain things (though hopefully I shall return at the very end of December). What is everyone else doing anyways?

Just in case you didn't get it, my last post was all sarcasm. I'M NOT GOING TO EMAIL YOU.

I KNEW you weren't older than me. :D Bastard. Luckily I've avoided unemployment. Snagged my job JUST before the recession hit my area big time, now I'm holding on for dear life. I'm trying to make a move into teaching guitar but I want to make sure it's sustainable before I jump in with both feet.

A good idea, sustainability is good.

And I HAD a job that I got after the recession hit. When the recession was hitting the hardest, I was off in the Glorious Russian Motherland spending my money on cheap vodka. I found a good post-recession job when I got back, but the Olympics being in my city has caused all construction to shut down, making me jobless. I'm currently #22 (when I last checked) on the out-of-work list at my Union hall, and I should have more work than I can shake a stick at as soon as the Olympics are over (shortly thereafter though, I must attend school).

What else have you, or any of the old WB people, been up to?
