I have tried to download a few logs but most of the time they are unavailable. Any help would be appreciated.
Preferably evenly matched games to help me understand strategies.
eryan if the games are not ended correctly i.e all bases taken by one team then the log wont be available
I looked at the player diarys and most of the older logs are unavailable. Is there a cutoff date when they are archived for good?
E.g. I could not find one available log for Ren playing.
That's correct Eryan. There used to be an ftp on .us but it looks like it's down. Maybe I'll set one up myself but I don't really have many logs to put in it. If anyone has a bunch let me know.
I have quite a few that I can give to anyone interested in hosting.
There are also quite a few youtube videos up...mainly by jollyroger that people might want to check out....the quality of course isnt that great.
Last I know, Elvis put most of the archived logs on a DreamHost server. Also, I had most of the logs LRL placed on his FTP, plus some that Elvis uploaded on my development server, so I'll look through my archival DVDs from a few years ago and track them down.
At one point I had around 15GB of game logs, and if I can find them (and have time to run a modified LogViewer through them all to parse the data) I'll finally finish that log search engine!
Might i suggest a seperated selection of logs, perhaps where elite forms of strategy/tactics are displayed in an easy to see way. It shouldnt be too hard to implement, just a link on the homepage of winbolo, ending on the archived specific log page[with no set time to live value], where they would be available for all to see and download, and pointedly, learn something from. I would certainly think this would benefit newbies, decreasing the learning curve and all, it would also benefit the more seasoned players, as newbies could understand what a vet is doing via pillview, and perhaps even assist them. That is, if some of the more knowledgeable players wouldnt mind digging up some candidates. Conditional on this idea being popular of course :?

you could use some sort of file sharing service...... such as http://rapidshare.com/ perhaps? dunno, never used their service. Or you can use some other file sharing setup. Such as a webhost.

I addressed min in this post simply because he is the first person i think of when i need help with something concerning winbolo as he has been the only moderator/bot owner whatever u wana call it, thats usually there to hand out advice/information to me.

i have a few hundred games ive saved. id love to have more. elvis has a large archive of games and ive talked with him about making them available. im sure hes a busy guy and we arent paying him anything after all so nothing has happened on that front. if its a money issue maybe we all chip in something? Five bucks? i dunno.. but if anyone wants some games from me i have some going back to 2006. you can ftp them to anyone directly using MIRC program DCC SEND FILE command. ive sent files to hellscream, spintega and others this way and its very convienent. MIBBIT does not have this. Changing to MIRC is free and easy and i reccomend it because its a better program. anyone who wants some files from me can email me or contact me on the chat channel.

i have many logfiles but i do not have ones where i am not in the game with a very few exceptions... so 1x1 with ren or sev i do not have. those you will have to get from elvis or someone else. i do have many logfiles with lots of good players like spintega, brando, underdog and others. i have a very few with ren or sev in them because early on i did not download logfiles. maybe because i did not know about it then im not sure. anyway most of what i have is 2x2 and3x3 games and some larger ones. there are still some good things you could learn from them im sure however.
We need to come up with a tool that will allow us to chop out a small section of a logfile. Would help us detail specific tactics or particular good play for posting here.

yeah id love to see all our old 1x1's underdog. same with the ones with sev. i remember when we went into our stale mates ahhaha. but i learned all my offensive moves from watching underdog sev and zach. i would open up chew toy 3 and just practice in my free time. i really didnt have a life back then. HAH. that and the competition was unreal back then. playing with sticks min and stimpy.. all the vets. and yeah stimpy cant forget skywalker. what a G
