Bolo for IPad

May 19, 2010 09:11 Bolo for IPad
I have recently been using an IPad and the I was considering the possibility of the Bolo interface working:

Some usability dilemnas:

Plant pill [same for all LGM manouveres]: tap on pill, tap on square to plant
Moving [Probably the biggest difficulty]: Tilting Ipad forward / backward for acceleration, screen keys for turning
Network:
- Can play against other IPadders in the same vicinity
- Can play TCP/IP
- Might need a decent set of bots for this to work

The whole objective would be to generate interest in Bolo. If someone wants to profit, so be it, as long as they produce a decent product.

Food for thought. Min, what do you think?

Tilting would work well on the iPhone, but I'd find it difficult to tilt an iPad around with one hand while playing the game with the other. An alternative would be a virtual joystick on the lower left or right part of the device, which could allow for game play similar to using a keyboard. (kind of like how you can control Google Earth)

Still it's interesting and always a possibility..

i agree that tilting for driving would be terrible. tilting for scrolling makes a little more sense, but even that seems kinda bad. virtual keyboard on screen could work, but how about the attachable keyboard for controls? better yet have both options available.

Using controls similar to iCombat would work well. Virtual keyboard with other on screen buttons for mines, shooting etc
