The noob intro thread

Hi all, I'm new to this game but remembered it from back in middle school, only on macs. I did a google search on bolo and found all THIS and I have to say I'm surprised that such an old game has survived for this long. :D

I recently moved to canada from mexico, and had to leave the family computer behind so all I have now is my lappy, which means no more MW2. But who needs modern when you have old school? Speaking of schooling, I could really use some in the winbolo department. I was reading on another bolo site about all the "pill takes" and whatnot and I have to say it's very interesting...all new to me of course.


sidenote: Is there a way to record with bolo logviewer? I joined on an Open server and tried to use it but no luck. I want to learn the strategies to build a base like I always see happening on those types of servers.

games are logged automatically and you can view them with the winbolo logviewer which will be in your winbolo game dir.
after a game simply go to winbolo.net -> archived games. there you will see a list of the most recently played games. if you look to the top right of a box you will see 'log'.
click on this then click on download.
when its downloaded open up the logviewer from the games dir then open up the downloaded logfile. easypeasy! :D
not all games' logs are saved though. games must be completed properly i.e all bases taken by one player/team. also if the game went on for too long it also tends to not save the log.

You download game logs by going to the Archived Games page from the left side of this site then clicking on download log.

Rule #1: To be a good noob, do whatever I say. Ask other semi-noobs and they will tell you that I am the best noob trainer on the block. They will also concur that I can berate a noob unlike any other, so to avoid my wrath see rule #1. Welcome to winbolo.
