IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, while you can download a IRC client called mIRC you can also use a web based client called a Java Client. The web based client can be found at http://comirc.winbolo.us While on the IRC server you can start games using one of the bots (sheepbot, Paniqbot, Minbot) Most of these games started by the bots are pass worded. Once on IRC you can start games with them, and they will provide you with the password for the game. The passwords change all the time. Many of you will probably ask, “why are they pass worded?” The games are pass worded to prevent players who just start without waiting for “…..go” to be called, with there being a password we know anyone who joins knows how to wait for teams and can expect to have a much better gaming experience. Anyone interested should join IRC and ask someone to explain how game starting works and what you should know to join pass worded games.

Basically the rules are for when you enter a passworded game:

1) If you did not start the game (ie, cause it be created by the server), then wait until teams are organized and everyone is ready before actually playing. Be Patient.

2) If someone ask you to leave (and you did not create the map), then leave without a fuss. Many times people organize games with set players, then start a map to play that game.

3) No hacks allowed.

Other rules:
1) Do not kill (ie shut down) a game in which other people are still playing.

2) Do not start an excessive amount of maps in which you do not intend to play.

These are the most common and accepted rules. I hope this is helpful to some of you.

According to the mIRC website
What is mIRC?
To use IRC you need a small program like mIRC, an IRC client for Windows, written by Khaled Mardam-Bey. mIRC is a friendly IRC client that is well equipped with options and tools. mIRC is shareware, which means that you can download mIRC and try it out freely for 30 days to evaluate it. If during, or at the end of, the evaluation period you decide that you would like to continue using mIRC, you must register your copy.

However the java client is perfectly free to use. There are 2 java clients for irc.winbolo.com, one can be found on min's winbolo page or at http://www.cablelan.net/924/chat/chat1.html The other java client can be found at http://comirc.winbolo.us There is also a java client available to connect to irc.winbolo.us the alternate/backup server, that one can be found at http://javairc.winbolo.us
