Linbolo also for non-programmers?

Hi!
My son (12) and I got talking about old games. I told him of Bolo and how it kept us PhD students from our research,and/ or kept us in the labs for late-night duels. Must have been in 1993 or something. We checked it out on the net. For his generation, submerged in MineCraft, the simplicity of the design was even a plus! He loved the idea.

At home we have one good Windows computer and two reasonably fresh, "recycled" computers with Ubuntu (and a crappy netbook, but that doesnt count ;-). In order to play against each other we would need to run bolo on the linux's.

The info I have found are a bunch of dead links and posts from like <2003. One exception being from this summer where someone was complaining about errors in compilation from the source code. I'm afraid handling source-code is slightly beyond me, especially if there is trouble to be expected. :-)

Are there any fresh links to version 1.13 of Linbolo? If yes, are there any servers that will host this today? I understand this was the last working version...

Any plans to get a newer Linbolo available?

Many thanks
Erik

Here you go: http://www.winbolo.com/downloads/linbolo-113.tar.gz

The server (linbolods) is included but probably needs to be started separately. It's not hard to run yourself.
