A warm greeting to all of the WinBolo community.

Oct 30, 2011 08:53 A warm greeting to all of the WinBolo community.
Greetings to you all.

I am somewhat of a newbie to the WinBolo gaming scene. I played Bolo a lot back in the late 90's on Macs and a bit on PCs a few years ago, but not with any real skill. Recently, I've had some nostalgic feelings towards the game and fired up a server and started playing a bit.

I have been told that resources, such as hosting, servers, IPs, etc. are in short supply to this community. I happen to manage a data center in Seattle, WA, USA and have a few spare HP servers I could fire up for use running either Windows or Linux to host games.

Is there anyone among the community who would like to participate in such an effort? Managing the servers, handling the games? Obviously, you don't want a newbie handling *all* the aspects of such an endeavor :)

I figured I'd 'test the waters' and see if there is any interest out there. Best wishes to you all, it's nice to see there is still a bit of a following out there for this old game. Take care, Cheers! :)

Welcome to the community!

Interesting backstory man. I don't know anything about servers and all that, but I'm sure those who do will get back to you.

What IS in short supply are players. You should recruit some folks. Shouldn't be too hard, seeing as how this game is pretty addictive.

Looking forward to seeing you in some games.

We could always use more server resources! Thanks for your generosity. Email me at the address in my forum profile, or find us on IRC here: http://tinyurl.com/winboloirc and I can help you set up the servers. We hang out in IRC and setup team games, and share knowledge so we can also give you tips on your play, etc.

These new servers....could this finally be our chance to ban Acro? To keep him off our network from day one? We live in exciting times, friends!
