Well, now I know. I was curious to see what would happen -- what the welcome would be -- if a newbie with some degree of skill showed up in the community. It turns out that players like ren, bluesnake, q-mandabomb and streetz, themselves not far (if at all) removed from newbiedom, were utterly merciless in their mocking. Oh, a new person who can't type, well -- must be dumb! Let's make fun of his spelling. Who cares if he's young, or not a native English speaker, because it's just so fun to belittle others! Even bluesnake said I couldn't write, which is simply precious.
As it turns out, I'm neither a newbie nor incapable of spelling common words. And despite the fact that I won repeated games, it was always (I'm told) because the other person was rusty, or because I was lucky. Only against LRL and erebus did I get a "good game." Ren? Forget it. Just "rematch chew, and I'll unleash hell." And then his grandmother came. Bluesnake? He demands a rematch 3 minutes into a game b/c he's spiked out and down 8-0 in pills, then I immediately drop several pills for him (coincidence?) and he wins after I drive around hardlining for a few minutes, and I don't hear the end of it. "Haha, adu lost to bluesnake!" said Streetz, who deigned never to play me yet was always the first to ridicule.
Over the last few days, only Erebus /msg'd me to give me advice on how to get along in the community, and I thank him for that. If players want winbolo to maintain its viability and attract new, inexperienced players, the last thing you want is for it to come to resemble mac bolo: veterans who'll beat your ass in the game then mock it out of the irc channel. For my part, I apologize for calling streetz and ren dumb. Clearly they're not. But it should be incumbent on these newer players to realize that they should be winbolo's welcoming party, for it is they who can best relate to a new player's situation. If someone doesn't know how to act in the channel, it's not difficult to give suggestions rather than play "insult the newbie." Again, only Erebus did so. And to think some of those players want to be channel operators.
It's useful to note that the better players are, generally speaking, the ones least interested in pointing out others' flaws.

i think you all need to apologize, yes i was very polite with adu as of how to get along in the community, say you were to start playing a foreign game would you want them to pick on you cuz you cant type well?

Being good friends with streetz and as you would call bukake(lol) i would have to say, well done with your effort to make this community a better palce but i'm sure some people don't want this place to become a O god Sryy i killed you 3 times in that game. We make fun of people to intimiadate people(i'm not very good at it) and by the way who are you, really...
