What keyboard configuration is recommended for bolo? What works for our best players? The setup I picked doesn't seem to work so good. Maybe Elvis could help on this question?
I would hardly classify myself as a good player. I still use the defaults. I'm told a one hand on the keyboard/one hand on the mouse setup is much easier to play with.

I wasn't sure one hand could do driving, mining, gunsight, etc......but apparently it can. That link was helpful...and I AM left handed. Thanks guys.
i still use the default keys...i tried the other "good" keys but i just couldn't figure em out...ah well.....i can still play the game just fine.....

Well I originally chose the same keys as I use for DOOM. But doom doesn't need the mouse. So I really want to learn the proper configuration.......and IT'S DAMN HARD SWITCHING KEYS!!!! I'm getting my ass kicked by noobs!!! I'm gonna give myself a month. As Yoda said, 'You must unlearn what you have learned.' :D
lmao udu...it is an excellent point. You can't play well if you must constantly move your hand between keyboard and mouse. A great player will just crush ya because he can turn, build and shoot in one fluid motion.
i prefer to use a borg to be able to turn and build at the same time....(and no ITS NOT CHEATING).....just cuz im too lazy to change my keys..... :P :D :lol: :? 8)

I've used the new key configuration for 18 days. It's much better!!! While I can't say it has made me a better player, playing bolo is much easier!!!! I urge everyone to make the switch to one hand driving, one hand mouse. Hang in there. I was very uncomfortable with the new keys for 2 weeks. But it has paid off. Q, when you said you couldn't figure out the new keys, I think you didn't give yourself enough time. After a week I was convinced I was getting nowhere. But the second week things were improving.
Tip: :!: Studies show learning new things all the time is good for your brain. :!: :D :D

the keys i use i find good, note: i always keep 1 hand on mouse
arrow keys are my directions
p is my pill box view
t is my tank view
i have num locks on so i can use 8 4 5 and 6 for my scroll
enter is my mine
ctrl is my shoot
(ur pinky will get used to it after a while)
im gunna use:
w -forward
s -brake
a-left
d-duh
space-shoot
shift-mine
arrow keys-scroll
'- pillview
enter-tank view
That's similar to my new setup, except move all keys over one key and I think I'll change scroll from home, end, delete, page down to the arrows. The arrows are closer to my cordless mouse. I got this cool rubber keyboard, too. You can fold it up and spill Jack Daniels on it and it still works. You can type like mad and it makes no sound. Rubber keyboards rock!!! By the way, lol on the 'duh' Q.
