Creating a website...

Oct 05, 2003 09:45 Creating a website...
I'm currently in the process of creating a WinBolo related website. The only thing though, is that I dont really know what to put on it content wise.
I have a few skins I've made, maps, tutorials, sounds and such, but that would make for a pretty content-lacking website.
I have a very good ASP layout with 3D graphics, sounds and all that, but Im wondering if anyone would help me out with telling me what else to put on it.
Also, if anyone has WinBolo related items that they have made and are looking for a place online, email me.

P.S., I am also wanting to have a section on WinBolo movies. Bascially, have 30 second movies of different players beginning a game, playing a game, and winning a game. That way, new players could see how the pros do it. Tell me what you think.

I am curious about this ASP layout of yours...

My advice to you is to start small. You don't need to open your site having the largest collection of WinBolo related material ever assembled. You can always add new content in response to demand.

A WinBolo site shouldn't just be something that you make and never touch again. Build it up over time with quality, original content.

I am curious about this ASP layout

I have two layouts actually, ASP, and regular HTML, both of which are not yet online. The ASP version would be for based on a forum-outline, the HTML based on regular updating. I havent figured out which one to use, but seeing that there is already a impressive Winbolo forum, it might be pointless.
A WinBolo site shouldn't just be something that you make and never touch again.

Theres already too many of those. Most (if not all) of the established WinBolo websites are not mantained at all. Mine would be a daily updated site consisting of content which is not already on other sites, I just cant figure out what content that would be.
Also, one thing I was going to use for my forum-based site, was a link a user could click on someones profile which allows them to set up a game.
A user would click on a members profile, set up the game type (how many players, what type, brains...), then it would send that information to the other member in a PM. Seeing that I might not use this site format, I think that would be something that is implemtped into the WinBolo.net forum.
Thanks for your help, Killjoy.

In case you're still interested in making a winbolo website, here are a few ideas: http://winbolo.netfirms.com/ideas.shtml

It's always great to have another winbolo site up!

Everyone's involvement in bolo comes in cycles - I may spend a few months between updates, but at least, all the original content is available to anyone who wants to view it.

What might one use to make a good website? Like angelfire or geocities or what. Does a good site require me paying for it?
