WinBolo 2.2.1 Released!
Gameplay Changes
- Trees now grow back about two and a half times faster, close to the Mac Bolo rate. With one tank on the map a tree grows about every 40 seconds, and with four tanks about every 10 seconds. The Faster Tree Growth mod is faster by the same amount.
- The builder now walks a dead pillbox at road speed, as in Mac Bolo. A repair trip is no longer slowed on the last square, and the builder can now walk onto a dead pillbox in water. A server rule can restore the old speed.
- Your own shell's explosion and hit sound now appear as soon as the shell stops on your screen. At high ping they used to come up to a quarter of a second late.
- For tank and builder hits, the server allows for your network delay and checks where that tank or builder was on your screen, so the explosion you see is what counts. Wall and pillbox hits are still decided by where things are on the server at that moment, so an explosion there can occasionally turn out differently.
- Internally, teams and alliances are now one thing. Allying joins the other tank's team, leaving an alliance starts your own team, and a player joining partway through a round gets a team of their own. The player list always shows the team a tank is really on.
Mod Changes
- Every script in the lobby chooser now shows its author and updated time, with unknown where the script does not say.
- The Mac Bolo Rules mod now spawns tanks away from enemies, up to 16 squares from an enemy tank and 9 squares from an enemy or neutral pillbox.
- The Mac Bolo Rules mod now fires angry pillboxes faster and plays Mac Bolo's shell range, superboom threshold and parachute speed. These are on by default and replace the mod's number settings.
- The Tank hits do not set off mines part of the Mac Bolo Rules mod is removed, since it only set what the game already does. The Tank Hits Set Off Mines mod is removed too and will be on the Steam Workshop instead.
- Mods whose pillbox shells would burst a square from the pillbox, because the shell life or pillbox range was set too high, are now refused. The message says which rules to change.
Voice Improvements
- Fixes voice chat cutting out for everyone when the map changed in the lobby or a round ended.
- Reduces the click heard at the start and end of each voice chat utterance.
Log Viewer Changes
- Adds a Chat window that shows the players' messages as the replay plays. The last ten messages are shown with the sender in team colour and fade out a few seconds after the newest one. Open it from the Windows menu or with Ctrl+9.
- Recordings now show every team change, so the Log Viewer shows which team a player was on at any point in the round. Log Viewers from before this release cannot open the new recordings.
- Fixes the Ctrl and Cmd shortcuts not working on a Mac.
Bug Fixes
- Fixes tanks only uncovering hidden mines to their north. A tank now uncovers the mines on its own square and the three squares ahead of it, whichever way it is facing.
- Fixes every tank killed by a mine going up in a big explosion. A lightly loaded tank killed by a mine now leaves one crater, the same as when it is killed by a shell.
- Fixes a player who joined partway through a round seeing every mine when hidden mines were on. They now see only the mines they have been told about.
- Fixes a time limit set in the lobby being lost when the round started.
- Fixes trees growing in the wrong places next to laid mines. A mined square now counts as its real terrain when the game picks where a tree grows.
- Fixes a tree sometimes appearing under a road, building or pillbox the builder was on his way to build. Trees no longer grow on a square the builder is walking to.
- Fixes a pillbox freezing the game when a mod set its aiming effort above 255, and firing north when it was set to 1. Games under normal rules are unchanged.
- Fixes pillboxes missing moving tanks when a mod changed how far out a shell starts.
- Fixes a Mac Bolo Rules pillbox firing at a farther tank, or firing the instant a shell landed, when its nearest target already had the most shells allowed in the air. The pillbox now keeps its target, loses the shot and reloads in full, as in Mac Bolo.
- Fixes a tank under the Mac Bolo Rules drawn facing one way while driving and colliding the next way round when it was stopped exactly between two headings.
- Fixes computer players planning routes through walls and buildings they found after the game started, then pushing against them.
- Fixes computer players driving to a pillbox's old square after it was picked up and moved out of their sight.
- Fixes a computer player's tank circling its own square after shells pushed it back. It now only turns back when its next square is really blocked, and slows down when it does.
- Fixes Alt+Enter doing nothing in a classic mode game, which left a game started from a full screen lobby stuck full screen. Full screen can now be turned on and off during a classic mode game.
- Fixes rule descriptions in the lobby, the map editor and the scenario docs that described a rule differently from how the game uses it.
