ok, for winbolo, what we REALLY need is player status icons. they would appear beside players in the players menu and when you hold your mouse over any of the dots on the upper right of the screen, a help balloon would come up saying:

1) If a player is typing a msg or not (would be symbolized with a "T")

2)How many bases/pills they have

3)WHO THEY ARE ALLIED TO so we dont ally them and fuck up the game.

4) and obviously it should say their name :P

I tried to explain this in an above post, but it was all jibberish.....;


we should have a little list of all our other accounts, this way, say i play a team game under another name that is mine, it won't get ranked :( :( this should somehow be made so it will, perhaps you can have it kind of like a "team" where you need a pswrd to join (like sheeps "the flock" or my my "badmamajamas") (which i accidentally forgot the join pass)
and on all your other accounts it would show all the same stats, no matter what name you play under.

it should also be made so you automatically have to get a winbolo.net account before you can play, this would solve the "non winbolo.net participant" thing.

oh and the statuses should say is theyre locked or not, allowing allies, have any pending ally requests to them or from the, ect.



also on the msg bar it should say whether someone has rejected an alliance request from you or not.

some people dont wanna join wbn for a reason. They still love playing though. I don't think players should be made to join wbn just to play

Why does this matter? And why should I wait for some slow typer to finish writing a novel? I'm supposed to stop shooting you, look up and mouse-over your nick before I kill you? If people keep killing you while you type, I say, don't type.

You can see from the pill/base summary how many your enemies own, why does it matter which one actually owns them? It's pretty easy to find out once you see them next to their pills.

How about this shocking concept: don't accept more allies when you already have 15!

I like the idea of summary stats of all nicks you choose to link. I would be interested to see what crazy numbers all my nicks add up to (wait, maybe I don't). But this should not be forced or overwrite any nick stats.

I don't like this idea at all. Elvis had the right idea in making it a choice people can use or not. If I don't want big brother looking over my shoulder, so be it.

ok, fine, screw the "u hafta register wbn" thing ..........and usually ur allied to someone all by urselves in an open ffa, getting killed by multiple sided attack.....then u decide u need an allly.......a newb requests alliance......and golly gee gosh...whaddya know.....alllied to 7 ppl.............it's very hard to ally 15 ppls...........and no, of course ur not sposed ta stop shooting while sum1s typing.............my intention was that if i ask someone sumthing then i could know whether or not they are responding with a 15-pg long novel. thats why.

NO! This would give away all the enemy's valuble information. E.G. If you look on your pill menu and see that the other teem is carrying six pills, you shouldn't know WHO has the six pills, or you will all gang up on him. This would be unfair and imho is worse than cheating! If your going to inplement stupid shit like this i also suggest that you include the ability to read your enemies private messages.

i still like the idea to make nut. pills one color and enemy pills a different color and your pills green...just for shits and giggles...thats the only think i would change about the game.

i think before we change the games play style, we should find ways to fix it. once the crucial problems are fixed, then the next step is enhancement, and player friendliness. changing the games dynamics is the last step.

neutral pills and enemy pills should be the same color. cuz in reality, you know what is friendly cuz its yours, but how would you know what the enemy is when you have no prior knowledge? if im driving my tank down the street like i do every saturday morning, and out of nowhere a strange yet intriguing enemy tank comes from around the corner and starts blasting me, or a pillbox full of crazed gunners blasts me, how am i to know if they are enemies to just me (enemy pills) or enemies to everyone (neutral) ? im not psychic. maybe a little psychotic, but most definatly not psychic.

the main things that need changing, is FIXING THE BUGS. duhhhhh!
the lgm bug still happens. the pill bug still happens. my tanks shells stop registering to server and my messages become invisible to people spontaneously. the screen blacks out sometimes and wont reload. these usually occur in when im resyncing. i think the network syncing still needs some major tweaking.

also stuff like your lgm appearing outside the tank when it isnt really there, ie the phantom lgm bug. the lgm arrow saying its in a direction it isnt.

how about tank collisions? isnt the fact that you can get pushed by a tank a half square away not weird? it sure screws up team play anyhow.

also, fixing hacks like the speed hack and invincibility hack. (the 2 biggest hacks)

how about letting winbolo play full screen, or a custom window size, not just double single and quadruple?

once the things i mentioned above are dealt with, some enhancements wouild be nice. like the message scroll bar thing is really pretty weak. it can take forever for something to appear. and when someone is yelling hold, people cant see it.
how about something that is more like minborg, integrated into winbolo.exe?
how about different colors for network message, debug message, ally message, etc? like almost all multiplayer games.
how about the ability to predefine a spawning area for a team in a custom/theme map? or making certain terrain indestructable. (an indestructable type of block, and indestructable tarmac would be great for making an arena for jousting that doesnt turn into a bunch of craters and shallow water, like all open games do)
how about map overview? how about a gameview feature like the one mac bolo has, where you can watch a saved game, in a very small file size?

the latter half of my suggestions are all enhancements. they would really be nice, but as much as i love them, the crucial stuff really does need to be dealt with first

please people, lets deal with priorities first

which brings to mind these two bugs:


1) ive noticed the most annoying bug ever: when you go to steal a base, and the base is "dead" (lil x on its on the right of ur screen) then the enemy tries to push you off, then you push him and then sum1 finally wins the base, but you have never ending text saying so and so just stole base from so and so. the only way to fix it is to rejoin.


2) not really a bug, but ive noticed that you cant open the players menu while msg bar is going (annoying) but im sure chat is being changed in the next vesion.

Gotta say, I'm with UD on this one. One thing I do with some frequency is to take a neutral pill, then to plant it again right where I picked it up. People who think they know the map well sometimes assume it's a neutral, and it can throw them off. I'd kinda miss this possibility.

Problems like this aren't solved with new features. They're solved by following protocol!! Join, lock, ally, onside, call, go. In that order. If protocol isn't followed then you shouldn't complain about unfair teams or blanket ally requests or changing alliances or anything like that.
