Cartoons from the 80s

Nov 17, 2003 18:25 Cartoons from the 80s
I just wanted to say that the cartoons today suck compared to when i was a kid. I would come home from school and watch the greatest cartoon line up ever. I would start out watching He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the G.I. JOe, Transformers, the Thunder Cats and lastly Voltron. It's too bad that children today are forced to watch things like Pokemon or Jaclie Chan or w/e. I will say that Dragon Ball is good though, just that the story lines drag on and on. And they edit it which is bs. And networks like carton network and Bam show old cartoons, but shitty ones like the Flintstones and Captain Caveman. I guess my generation grew up with cartoons with too much fighting, I dont know. Anyways No cartoon will ever be better than the 1983 Transformers and He-man. I do own the first two seasons of transofrmers on DVD, but anyone know if He-man 1983 is on DVD??? if so dcc it when i get dsl

sky, are you kidding??

Look back at those old cartoons and see how terribly CHEESY they are. I watched voltron, He-Man, and GI Joe back in the day, and I was into them... but look at them now and they're just so bad. But there are some cartoon shows now that are just great to watch even for adults! Spongebob can be pretty funny, Powerpuff Girls (yes, it's hilarious! I'm sure I'll hear about it from eveone). And Dexter can be kinda funny too... I actually think Samurai Jack is kinda cool too.

and to think, we watched the smurfs back in the 80's...

No, I'm not kidding. I have watched all those shows you mentioned and they suck.. I forgot that today's He-Man is pretty kick ass too

I dunno, but any cartoon that's creative enough to name a pet snail 'Gary' and call a restaurant 'Chum Bucket' has got my vote.

I agree with sky here, but I'd have to add Ninja Turtles, and not any of this NEW crap.

yes the old ninja turtles and ghostbusters deserve to be on that list........they were interesting compared to the anime crap thats out now

I remember watching the old ghostbusters (and, i think, the old ninja turtles), back when i was about six (?), i liked them, my favorite turtle was the one wit the red headband.

I think that was Raphael, Leonardo was Blue, Donatello was Purple and Michaelangelo was Orange. I can probably remember the words to the theme song....

Hero's in a half shell. Turtle Power!

Another thing was TMNT was created and aired in 1995, so I don't know how it fits into the 80's cartoons were better idea.

The cartoons that are out now are utter crap. I don't want my son watching them, which seems to be fine with him (yes he has watched them); he's not interested in them. I d/l the old cartoons that Min and I used to watch as kids like: Inspector Gadget, Astroboy, Thundercats, Looney Toons. I will be starting on Ninja Turtles (the old ones) and Teddy Ruxpin (if I can find it) soon. We also allow him to watch things like Kenshin, Dragon Drive, and Dragonball and Dragonball Z, the original Japanese, not the raped western versions. The only "newish" western cartoons he enjoys are Disney movies, and computer anime (which he'll watch it over and over and over and over, until we're so sick of it we hide it.). Then of course we can't forget Thomas the Tank Engine *shudder*
