With ud's map contest, I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a winbolo map community?" What I mean by that is, a community that would consist purely of map-makers, where everyone's maps would be looked at and critiqued. I recall some people complaining about the lack of new maps, and a big problem is that people don't know how to make a map that doesn't suck (myself included).
If we were given pointers from more experienced map-makers, we might actually make winbolo a little more fun with more maps to choose from. I dunno, this was a thought. It was only a thought. Thank you for participating in the emergency thought test. (Although some of you failed.)
nice idea, as long as ne1 could join. But the fact is that we don't need any more maps! Ppl don't even play the maps we have! Why would they play new maps?
I could set up a seperate forum if people want it.
I think what we really need is a "map of the day" feature!
A 'map of the day' feature would actually be a really good idea, would be nice to see some people playing on different every now and then than the usual tried and tested ones.
Another forum for maps would also be a welcome addition to what is already an excellent place for WinBolo'ers to congregate.
Just a thought for the future (next version of WinBolo perhaps) but wouldn't it be nice if there was some way of getting a counter to record how many times each map has been played. That way you would be able to see an actual statistic page with the most popular maps, this would come in handy for a 'map of the day' idea to me thinks.

The only thing about seperate forum Elvis is that it takes ppl like me with aol forever to load each forum. Thus I tend to just view the main general forum and ignore everything else unless they pop up in the 5 most recent thread seeing from main page of WBN as it's too painfully slow to load up each forum.. The "list new post since last visit" doesn't work for me b/c oftentime i go on wbn without reading posts and it resets the recent post to that visit even thought I haven't read anything from the previous day.
What would be cool would be something like "List all threads/posts posted in the last __x___ days". That would make it easy for slow connection ppl like me to read and post across all the forums.
ps. cool map statistics! Anywhere we can find the statistics for all map started? I'm curious to know whetehr my map Starice is ranked 10045th or if it's cracked the top 10,000 map played :)
I think the map forum is a good idea, it should make it easier for people interesting in only maps to share and research.
You can search for recent posts by using the search page on the top nav:

You just need to search for "*" as keyword and Search Previous 7 days. There are a lot of different options for the date range, including 1 day, 1 month, 6 months etc. It will pull up all posts for that range.
Map of the day or Map of the Moment also is an interesting idea. I have tried to promote new maps using the "sheepbot news" command, but this only highlights the most recent addition to sb's archive. The "start collections" is also an attempt to give people easy access to new maps. Maybe creating a new start collection for the map of the day is the way to go.
is there a link that shows images of maps, w/o using your tracker to view them? I think I remember ahwile back seeing a site like that. If there isnt I think it would be cool to have a site like that for the maps people at least enjoy playing for a quick referrence too and maybe also to determine the size of it to determine if it's best for a 1x1, 2x2, etc etc.
